A quarter century of tutoring kiwi arborists at WINTEC, mostly resulting in future tree care business owners and numerous world-acclaimed competitive tree climbers, is an amazing legacy. All the while producing the market-defining Harrison Rocket throwbag for local and international markets. Andy Harrison is changing tack but largely remaining on course.

The DMM Kinisi harness has been in the field long enough for climbers to start questioning age, but many have forgotten how to interpret the serial numbers. Here is a quick reminder. Unlike the Teufelberger Treemotion harness, which lists a specific discard date on its label, the DMM Kinisi harness uses the ‘plus ten’ method: add ten years to the manufacture date on the identity label to calculate the expiry.

Tree climbing comps aren’t just about results — they’re top learning environments in the industry.

Take this common question: Is a NOTCH Rook required when running MRS on the NOTCH Rope Runner Pro?

The manual shows it. Some climbers say it’s mandatory. Others argue it’s just one example.

We went straight to NOTCH for clarity:
“No, the ROOK is not required — it’s shown for reference and clearance. Other options work.”

That’s the point. Different interpretations drive discussion — and that’s where the learning happens.

Ask questions, challenge setups, and show up to comps to learn and grow.
