Floating stairs.
Palm Cove – Cantilever Staircase
This full cantilever staircase at Palm Cove is a showcase of refined detail and structural clarity. The stair features solid oak box treads projecting cleanly from the wall, with no visible support — achieving a minimalist floating effect.
A 12mm tension rod balustrade provides both safety and transparency, while a slim handrail with integrated LED lighting adds a warm glow and enhances the stair’s architectural lines. The oak was custom colour-matched to the flooring for seamless continuity across the space.
At the stair’s upper level, a large landing extends into the window frame, carefully designed to maintain a barrier with openings under 100mm — a subtle yet critical detail for compliance and safety. In addition to the stair, our team also fabricated and installed a matching 12mm rod screen to define a nearby bar area, and provided full producer statements for council approval.
This project highlights the balance between clean aesthetics, engineered performance, and careful coordination across disciplines.
