JRG Energy was proud to support on-site geothermal capacity building activities in Bandung, Indonesia from April 6–10 under the programme.

Our team led the planning, coordination, and delivery management of the programme, while the technical courses were delivered by our valued partner .

We were also pleased to work alongside Indonesian geothermal consultancy , whose support in workshop facilitation and Bahasa translation helped ensure the technical content and key learnings were fully accessible to all participants.

Strong collaboration like this is key to advancing geothermal knowledge and development across the region supporting future growth of the industry in Asia-Pacific.

To finish an inspiring week in Bandung, Kennard Maturgo also had the opportunity to experience the city’s famous Rainbow Village - a vibrant reminder of the culture, creativity, and community that make Indonesia such a special place to work.

The Taiwan International Geothermal Conference in Taipei brought together government, industry, investors, and technical experts - all focused on accelerating geothermal development.

Taiwan faces unique energy challenges, but its geothermal potential is significant and could become a cornerstone of its future energy mix.

JRG Energy was proud to be part of the conversation. Our General Manager, Callum Streeter, presented as part of the NZTE keynote and geothermal workshop, while also visiting a range of geothermal sites across Taiwan.

It’s encouraging to see the momentum building - and the growing collaboration needed to turn potential into long-term energy solutions. With both Conventional and Enhanced Geothermal Systems a clear focus in Taiwan, JRG Energy is well placed to support development across both pathways.

JRG Energy successfully completed a country-wide geothermal resource assessment for Azerbaijan in 2025.

Delivered in partnership with the World Bank and the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA), the project combined rigorous technical analysis with collaborative engagement to support the country’s growing geothermal sector and inform future development strategies.

Beyond the technical achievements, the project offered our team an exceptional cultural experience - from the breathtaking Bibi-Heybat Mosque to visiting the world’s first industrially drilled oil well to sampling local cuisine and engaging with welcoming communities. These experiences underscored the value of working closely with local stakeholders while delivering impactful, sustainable geothermal solutions.

A memorable project for JRG Energy and a meaningful contribution to the advancement of geothermal energy in Azerbaijan.

JRG Energy is often called upon to support technically challenging geothermal operations.

Nadia Domanski a Geothermal Engineer led a complex fishing operation in the Philippines for PGPC, tasked with recovering over 2,000 metres of wire and a tool lost downhole. Operating under demanding conditions, the team successfully recovered the majority of the wire, despite the tool itself remaining unrecovered.

While not every operation delivers a perfect outcome, this project highlights the importance of experience, adaptability, and sound decision-making in difficult well conditions — ultimately resulting in a satisfied client.

Today on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women helping shape the future of geothermal energy.

The geothermal sector is growing rapidly as the world looks for reliable, renewable energy solutions - and with that growth comes a huge opportunity for more women to enter and thrive in this field.

This International Women's Day we want to highlight the incredible women at JRG Energy who challenge industry norms and inspire the next generation considering a career in geothermal.

It’s encouraging to see organisations like Women in Geothermal (WING) working globally to promote education, professional development and the advancement of women across the geothermal community. Initiatives like this are helping create a more inclusive industry where women can lead, innovate and make a lasting impact.

Here’s to the women already leading the way as they share some thoughts on the geothermal industry!

At JRG Energy, our work often takes us beyond project sites and into the communities and environments where geothermal resources exist.

Over the past 12 months, our team has had the opportunity to work across a range of remarkable locations, engaging not only in technical project delivery but also in the local cultures and natural settings that surround them. From ancient forests and geothermal hot springs to cultural festivals in China, informal chess matches in Nevada and California, and salmon fishing in Oregon, these experiences offer valuable perspective alongside our fieldwork.

Immersing ourselves in local environments strengthens our understanding of place - an important part of delivering thoughtful, sustainable geothermal solutions worldwide.

At JRG Energy, building future capability is a core part of our commitment to the global geothermal industry across Europe and the Asia–Pacific region.

For the past three years, JRG Energy has partnered with StratéGéO to deliver specialised geothermal training at ENSG Nancy (École Nationale Supérieure de Géologie) in France. As part of this collaboration, a reservoir engineering student spent a year with our team gaining hands-on experience, working closely with Charlene Joubert to strengthen geothermal reservoir modelling skills from our London office.

In the Asia–Pacific region, our Reservoir Lead Martin Pujol has been mentoring hydrogeology students at the University of Western Australia, combining academic instruction with practical geothermal and geophysical fieldwork, including site investigations of potential geothermal-fed systems in remote regions of Western Australia. The next phase of this program will support an early-career geothermal professional from Indonesia undertaking advanced training at UWA.

Through these partnerships, JRG Energy is proud to contribute to the development of technically skilled, globally minded professionals who will help drive the future of geothermal energy.

At JRG Energy, geothermal work takes us far beyond the office - to remarkable places where sustainable opportunity meets real-world impact.

Last year, Martin Pujol visited Kenya as part of a geothermal project, combining technical leadership with firsthand exploration of the region. Alongside site visits (and an unforgettable safari), Martin led a technical workshop focused on feasibility studies, operational maintenance, and strengthening local expertise.

By drawing on global best practices from successful geothermal spa developments, the team also gained valuable insights into building hot springs projects that are both profitable and sustainable.

This is why we love what we do - advancing geothermal energy while learning from the landscapes and communities we work with 🌍
