We’re proud to share that Thomas Sturch has officially been awarded his Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status - a huge professional milestone.

What makes this especially rewarding is that Thomas has completed his entire chartership journey while working at Civix. It’s a real reflection of his commitment, capability and the strength of the support around him.

Adding to an already standout year, Thomas has also stepped into the role of Principal Engineer & Team Lead, continuing his growth and leadership within our team.

We recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for KOHE, a major new neighbourhood in Pukekohe that Civix is assisting Aedifice Property Group in delivering. The development will bring more than 700 homes and a future commercial centre to the community.
The event marked the start of the marketing phase, with lots now being released through Bayleys Real Estate. The ceremony included a karakia from Ngati Tamaoho and reflections from Minister Chris Penk, alongside the Aedifice and Bayleys teams.

KOHE has been carefully planned to offer affordable, high‑quality living. The design includes generous landscaped reserves, retained natural bush, and a range of homes by Smith Architects, all positioned just 700 metres from the electrified Pukekohe rail station.

With earthworks complete and infrastructure underway, it’s exciting to see this important development moving closer to delivery.

Project Spotlight: Campbells Bay, Auckland

Civix has led the successful consent process for alterations and additions to a beachfront dwelling in Campbells Bay, Auckland.

What appeared straightforward at first evolved into a lengthy and complex consent process, including a full s92 RMA further information request covering:

• Character assessments relating to effects on the Single House Zone and surrounding neighbourhood
• Natural hazard assessments for flooding, coastal erosion and inundation, and landslide susceptibility
• Geotechnical stability and retaining wall construction

On top of all this, the notification of Plan Change 120 (Natural Hazards) introduced additional requirements, necessitating further detailed responses.

Civix was able to guide the process through each technical and regulatory step, coordinating the required assessments and ensuring a robust response to Council.

Despite the complexity, the application was approved on a non‑notified basis. Council accepted that the proposal aligns with the Auckland Unitary Plan, manages natural hazards effectively, and results in a positive outcome for the landowner.

The result - a high‑quality architectural upgrade designed by JCA-Studio, strengthening and complementing the site’s coastal character, while adding real value to the way the landowner uses and enjoys the home.

When your audience is a herd of curious cows 🐄

Rob Mears was out surveying a newly re-zoned greenfield site in Rangiora, capturing data so our design team can create an efficient masterplan.

The cows were fascinated by the RTK GNSS gear, that is until they decided sunbathing was more fun!

Next up: finalising the masterplan and working towards resource consents to get the site works underway.
