Hey everyone!
Our locomotives have done an excellent job pulling their passengers this year, so we’re giving them and their drivers some much deserved holiday break!
The railway will be closed today (28th December) and next week (4th January).
We will be back open, bright and fresh on the 11th January and look forward to seeing everyone then!

Hey everyone!
Your patronage on Sundays is much appreciated! However recently we’ve had extremely high passengers. Although officially we close at 4:00pm, we have to close the queue at 3:30pm to ensure our trains get a good nights rest on time!
If you’re looking at coming later in the day, we highly reccomend getting into the queue before 3:30pm so you can have a ride!

It’s exhibition day!
This year, we’ve got fantastic exhibits from the railways, the marine engineers and the aero club as well!
We’ll be open today (saturday) from 10am till 4pm and then Sunday from 12 midday till 4pm!
Trains will also be running on Sunday from 1pm till 4pm! That’s weather permitting but the forecast for some steam locomotives is looking great!

ASME's next exhibition is scheduled for the 18th and 19th of October! Come along and see all the progress our members have made with their models, as well as some new models being showcased!
Entry is free, but a donation is always welcome! We'll be open between 1200 midday till 4:00pm on Saturday and 10:00am > 4:00pm on Sunday!

Train rides will still be operating on the Sunday between 1pm > 4pm (Weather Permitting)

Look who’s back, fresh off an overhaul!
Our DSB locomotive was in need of some major repairs but she’s back on the tracks and boy does she go fast! (All within the speed limit rules, haha)
A new motor controller has been installed with a new control interface, some fresh batteries to boot and she’s really moving now!
Big thanks to the team for getting her online for all our drivers!

Hey everyone, our locomotives are we’ll rested after their Christmas break and we’re back in operation today! The weather is great and it’s not too hot, so come on down to the Waipuna Railway and have a ride today from 1pm till 4pm!

Hey everyone!

The railway will still be open this Sunday, the 22nd of December! But after this, our trains need a well deserved good Christmas holiday rest, so we'll be closed on the 29th December and 2nd of January! Our good trains will be rested up and back in action after that!
Merry Christmas to everyone and we look forward to seeing everyone next year!

The Asme Exhibition is today and it’s in full swing! Come on down and see all the works that our model engineers have been making and while you are at it, come for a ride on the trains as well! We’ll be open from 1pm till 4pm today!

Currently owned by Ron, he believes it was originally built in 1850 and was a travellers sample - a travelling salesman would go to prospective factories and use this as a sample as to what could be built for them as a mill engine!

The Waipuna Railway needs volunteers!

We've been working hard for the past 50+ years to deliver a fantastic riding experience to the community, but running the railway requires a dedicated team to keep the lines maintained and the trains operational. Helping out just means a few sunday afternoons each year, either helping to process tickets at the station, driving trains, or even acting as a train guard! Experience isn't required as it's all training done on location!
Helping isn't without its perks though! The railway gives back by giving volunteers access to a wealth of mechanical knowledge and tools to the technically minded, from building your own small scale models that sit on the shelf, up to being able to build your own steam train!

If you're keen or available, please send us a message so we can send you some details! We want the railway to continue it's long traditions for the next 50 years!
