Exciting times ahead for ACMF as we begin expanding our presence into Queenstown and the wider Southern Lakes region.

With projects already secured for early next year, we’re looking forward to bringing ACMF’s experience, capability and range of architectural products and systems to Queenstown, Wānaka, Cromwell and the surrounding region.

Our team specialises in the supply and installation of balustrades, louvres and screens, flashings and custom metalwork, as well as Reynaers fire-rated joinery, cedar shingles and asphalt roofing.

It’s an exciting next step for ACMF, building on our experience across commercial and high-end residential projects throughout Auckland, Tauranga and the Waikato as we establish a strong local presence and bring that same capability to the Southern Lakes

Our Project and Ops Manager Ethan, will be in Queenstown from 12–16 October, and he is currently putting together my schedule for the week. He's particularly keen to meet with main contractors, architects, developers, project managers and others working across the local construction industry. He’d love the opportunity to introduce ACMF properly, run through some of the projects and systems we’ve been delivering, and most importantly, hear about what you have coming up and where ACMF could add value.

Whether you have an upcoming project we could assist with or simply want to learn more about what ACMF can offer locally, he’d be more than happy to come to your office, meet on site, or shout you a coffee.

If you’re in Queenstown or the wider Southern Lakes and would be available between 12–16 October, send us a message on [email protected] or give Ethan a message on linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ethan-mcquaid/.

Looking forward to getting ACMF on the ground in Queenstown and building some great relationships across the region.

Heritage Buildings

Sometimes it feels like more planning, preparation, and meetings go into these projects than actual on-the-tools work, but that’s because the details matter.

If a building has survived the last 100 years and you want it to survive the next, everything needs to be done right, while still respecting the history and heritage of the building.

We’re currently working on Kemp House in Kerikeri, now 204 years old and still standing strong. We’ve been working closely alongside Matthews and Mathews Architects from day one to ensure this project gets the workmanship, quality and attention to detail it deserves.

Last week, our Site Manager Tommy (and master of all things shingles) made up a sample hip to replicate the original taper-cut cedar shingles. With no traditional capping present, the detail features a concealed copper underflashing, maintaining the original appearance and replicating the way it was constructed all those years ago.

There’s something pretty special about working on a building with this much history, and I’m very excited to see the final result of the restoration.

Keep an eye out for more to come.

A good look behind the scenes at the scale of fabrication currently underway for our balustrade package at TRC Epping in Glen Innes for NZ Strong Group.

We’re currently well into production, with two full buildings batched across all four elevations, approximately 90 balconies worth of ACMF Finesse balustrade moving through the factory.

One of the biggest advantages of our Finesse balustrade system is its simplicity.

A lot of the work is done here in the factory, accurately fabricated, organised and batched by building and elevation, so when the balustrades arrive onsite, the installation process is straightforward and efficient.

On large scale projects like this, that simplicity becomes particularly valuable. Faster installation helps reduce the time between balcony handover and scaffold drop.

Simple system. Efficient fabrication. Efficient installation.

With powder coating and fabrication nearly complete, everything is being carefully protected, palletised by area and ready to be shipped to site as required, keeping handling to a minimum and allowing our installation team to hit the ground running as each area is handed over.

We’re excited to announce that ACMF is now an approved Centor retailer and installer of the award-winning S4 retractable screen and blind system.

Custom-made for each door or window opening, the Centor S4 can be installed alongside new or existing joinery—including large folding, French and sliding doors—and can also integrate with our operable louvre systems. Choose an insect screen, a light-control blind, or a combination of both to manage insects, sunlight and privacy.

Centor’s load-balancing technology allows the screen or blind to glide smoothly with one hand from any height, making it easy for younger and older family members to use. When not required, it retracts discreetly into the frame, leaving the view clear.

Available in a choice of fabrics and powder-coated frame colours, each Centor S4 system is covered by a five-year warranty, subject to Centor’s warranty terms and conditions.

Revisiting one of our standout residential projects: a custom two-storey motorised architectural screen manufactured from precision-cut 3mm aluminium and finished in Duratec Matt FlaxPod.

The intricate pattern provides privacy and solar control while casting changing light and shadow across the home’s interior. Connected to the home’s DALE automation system, the screens can be repositioned at the touch of a button.

A striking combination of architectural design, specialist fabrication and precision engineering.

If your roof is approaching the end of its service life, replacing it before installing solar panels could save considerable time, money and disruption later.

At our Muritai Road project, the client got it right. The ACMF roofing team is currently installing a new Western Red Cedar shingle roof, replacement membrane gutters and solar brackets in preparation for a new solar system.

By coordinating the roofing and solar work from the outset, both trades can work efficiently to deliver a watertight roof that’s ready for the panels—without unnecessary rework.

Because good roofing isn’t only about the finished roof. It’s also about looking at the bigger picture and planning for what comes next.

Some of the most complex projects are the ones that look the simplest.

At 358 Puhinui Road in Wiri, ACMF supplied and installed more than 7,300 linear metres of Aero louvres across five buildings.

The challenge?

Creating a flowing, curved façade from a structure built with straight steel framing.

With multiple blade profiles, three powder-coat colours, and virtually no two louvre assemblies the same, every component had to be carefully coordinated from design through to installation.

The end result is a façade that adds movement, depth, and character to one of Auckland's largest industrial developments.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved.

- Products: 7300m of Louvres - Aero 190, Aero 150, and Aero 110.
- Colours: electro cow, medium bronze, and window bronze.
- Architect: Williams Architects.
