For many years Konect Fastening Systems and our commercial roofers have been supporting the team of 70 at the The Disabled Citizens Society Inc in having them assemble our commercial Roofing Screws, Load Spreading Washers and EPDM Seal’s. They are now also assembling various combinations of fasteners for some of our structural fabricator clients as well. This work provides them with a real sense of purpose and community every day.
We realised that they did not really know where all their great work ended up so we decided to take them on a road trip to visit one of the current big jobs they have been assembling product for – the new frozen and chilled goods distribution centre being built by Macrennie Construction with the roofing being installed by Steel Roofing Ltd and the Structural Steel being fabricated and installed by at Landing Drive near Auckland Airport. We reached out to the team at Foodstuffs who immediately agreed to support the visit and organised a great tour of both their existing ambient site and the new frozen and chilled goods site as well as putting on a wonderful lunch for the team. We really value the work done by the team at the Disabled Citizens Society and we love supporting this NZ charity rather than having this work completed offshore.
