Current Road Status & Debris Clearance : Dhunge Area, Bidur Municipality

The main road access through the Dhunge area of Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot, is currently clear. However, significant amounts of debris remain along the road section. NGES is volunteering to prioritize specific areas for clearance and needs updated ground-level information to deploy resources effectively.

How You Can Help Using Mapillary ?
1. We request residents, volunteers, and travelers in the affected area to document the ground situation using the Mapillary app:
2. Download & Open: Download the free Mapillary app on your mobile device.
3. Capture Images: Take clear photos or sequence captures of the affected road sections and debris piles while traveling through the roads affected by disaster.
4. Upload: Upload the captured imagery directly through the app.

Mapillary provides an accessible, open platform for viewing real-time ground conditions. Your uploaded imagery will directly assist NGES in identifying priority clearance zones and coordinating targeted debris removal operations.

🚨 Urgent GIS & Geospatial Mapping Support Needed – Rasuwa Flood 2083

The recent Rasuwa flood disaster of 2083 has caused significant impacts on communities, roads, bridges, hydropower infrastructure, settlements, and other critical assets. Timely and reliable geospatial information is essential to support damage assessment, response planning, recovery, and informed decision-making.

In response, the Nepal Geomatics Engineering Society (NGES), in coordination with the Nepal Engineers' Association (NEA) and the concerned response team, is mobilizing GIS and geospatial professionals, engineers, surveyors, researchers, and volunteers to provide technical support for the ongoing response.

In response to the 26 August Nepal Floods, professionals from NAXA, MapBuds, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team have launched mapping efforts to generate timely information for response and recovery efforts. 🗺️

We have launched two additional Tasking Manager projects for the lower stream, and are requesting for your support to map and validate the affected areas!
