It works with water, land and people while respec

ting the local socio-ecological systems. It has been carrying out consulting and engineering business of Butwal Power Company (BPC) since 1966. In 1986, BPC established BPC Hydroconsult as a firm of planners, engineer, environmentalists, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. BPC Hydroconsult was structured as Engineering Department of BPC in 1991. In 2009, Engineering Department of BPC was established as an independent entity; Hydro Consult Private Limited (HCPL), by acquiring major shares in an existing firm that was being run by People Energy and Environment Development Association (PEEDA) since 1998. HCE was transformed into public limited on September 18, 2012 and is the first engineering consulting firm registered as public limited company in Nepal. Until FY 2077/78 BPC and PEEDA holds 80% and 20% of HCE shares respectively, but, now at present BPC holds 100% shares of HCE.

We’re excited to share steady progress at the Hoima Mini Hydropower Plant under the Orio Mini Hydropower Project Phase-01. Developed under the leadership of Uganda Energy Credit Capitalisation Company (UECCC), with Hydro-Consult Engineering Ltd as Owner’s Engineer, HNAC Technology Co. Ltd as Main Contractor, and SAEMS Hydro Ltd as Sub-contractor, the project continues to move forward through strong teamwork and coordination.

Construction works are advancing across key structures including waterways, powerhouse foundations, and associated infrastructure, while hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment fabrication progresses in preparation for installation.

With steady progress across all key components, the team remains committed to delivering 3.312 MW of clean, reliable energy to support Uganda’s sustainable power growth.

HCE Team has successfully concluded a challenging but extremely productive site visit to the Upper Apsuwa Khola Hydropower Project (47.17 MW). This site visit has been an essential step in the process of moving forward with engineering studies and planning. Despite the challenging terrain and site conditions, our team was able to carry out site inspections and observations, as well as other necessary data gathering. This productive site visit has been an invaluable step in laying the groundwork for the next phase of project development.

Site Visit – Dudh Khola Hydropower Project (65 MW)

HCE team conducted a site visit for the Dudh Khola Hydropower Project (65 MW), developed by Dudh Khola Hydropower Company Limited, in JV with Hydro Tunneling Research Pvt. Ltd.

The visit was carried out as part of the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) Study Contract, with the objective of verifying the proposed design under actual site conditions and identifying as well as recommending the required site investigations.

Such field visits play a crucial role in ensuring technically sound, practical, and site-specific engineering solutions.
