What is shear connection in structures?

The secondary beam carries floor loads and transfers its end reaction (shear force) to the main beam. The connection is typically detailed so that it does not transfer significant bending moment. As we know the shear stres distributin of I beam, it has maximum at the web centre.
Shear Connections act as "pins." They carry shear loads and a bit of axial load, but do not restrain the beam from rotating.
