We’re happy to introduce Øyvind Fosse, one of our skilled mechanics who has been part of the Kystdesign team since 2023. ⚙️

After starting his career as a car mechanic back in 2001, Øyvind felt it was time for a change. When he heard about Kystdesign, he thought the opportunity to move into the offshore industry sounded both exciting and challenging. When he joined, we had around 45 employees, so he’s already seen the team nearly double in size since then.

When Øyvind first started, he worked on our Zeerov ROVs and became part of the development process early on. It was a hands-on project where solutions often had to be figured out along the way, something he found both challenging and rewarding.

«I was completely new to the offshore industry when I started, but that’s also what made it so exciting. We had to find solutions along the way, and being able to work closely with the engineers and contribute ideas has been a great experience», he says.

Øyvind says what stands out most about working at Kystdesign is the collaboration across teams. Mechanics and engineers work closely together, and ideas for improvements are welcomed from everyone involved.

He also highlights the work environment as a big plus: bright, modern facilities, supportive colleagues, and a strong team spirit. For him, joining the company has been a decision he’s very happy with.

Outside of work, Øyvind enjoys family life with his son and his partner, and there’s even more excitement ahead as they’re expecting another child soon. In his spare time he enjoys working on cars and motorcycles, and from time to time he takes part in running and cycling races. 🚴🏃

Meet Ole Kristian Vikra Hemnes, our Electronics Technician who joined Kystdesign three years ago⚡🔧

Originally trained as an automation technician, Ole Kristian spent around 15 years working offshore before deciding it was time to try something new. When the opportunity at Kystdesign appeared, it immediately caught his interest.

Since joining us, he’s experienced a busy environment. For him, the fast pace is part of what makes the job interesting, as it provides plenty of opportunities to learn and develop.

«It’s been a steep learning curve since I started, but that’s also what makes it interesting. When things move fast, you learn a lot», he says.

In his role, Ole Kristian typically works with our TMS cabinets and transformers. He was also involved in the Zeerov project and works with cabling and connecting our ROV systems, preparing them for FAT testing before delivery.

What has stood out most to him since joining is the workplace itself. He describes Kystdesign as a company that takes good care of its people, with clear systems and routines that make everyday work run smoothly.

When Ole Kristian started, we had around 40 employees, and he has already seen the team grow significantly. With many new colleagues and a brand-new building under construction, he finds it exciting to be part of our company’s development.

Outside of work, he enjoys life on a small farm and has a long-standing passion for archery. He has been practicing the sport since the mid-90s and has even won several team medals over the years. 🏹

Driven by development and craftsmanship, meet our CCO Åge Holsbrekken!

With a background spanning mechanical engineering, leadership, and operational experience, Åge has followed a career shaped by progress rather than titles.

Today, after over 27 years with us, he works broadly across Kystdesign, and Åge is still deeply involved in engineering and concept development, while bringing valuable historical insight into everything we build. ⚙️

What motivates him most is seeing ideas turn into real, high-quality equipment that make a difference for our customers. Even as Kystdesign has grown rapidly, the focus remains the same: making well-crafted and useful products. And not to mention enjoying the process along the way!

Outside of work, you’ll find him in the mountains, on skis, or at the cabin recharging for the next chapter of development. ⛰️🎿

We’re happy to welcome Jens William Larsen Bore to Kystdesign, who joined us in early January as a Mechanical Technician. 👋⚙️

After several years as a car mechanic, Jens was ready for a new challenge. Encouraged by people he knew at Kystdesign to check this field out, he was drawn in by the exciting tasks and the chance to enter the world of ROVs, even though it was a completely new field for him.

The first couple of weeks have been both intense and rewarding, with several systems to get familiar with. He’s been warmly welcomed by colleagues across the company and is currently working on assembling thrusters, a hands-on role he really enjoys.🔧🚀

Outside of work, Jens values time with his family and his young daughter. He also enjoys hobby fishing, mechanical projects, and a bit of gaming when time allows. 🎣🕹️
