Finally, a one piece raised helmet for my good friend Andreas. It is inspired by several helmets from the 11th century, among them the St.Wenceslas and Ölmutz helmets. It took something like six years to get this done, so I am glad he was so patient.

I really enjoy seeing my work after a few years, as by then I have forgotten all the imperfections that bothered me while making it. Its an extra relief to see how well the overlay has held up on this blunt fighting spear even after several years of use.

A really long term project is finally done and is now in the hands of its happy owner. For once, this is something I started doing just for the joy of creating but stopped as orders had to come first. The axe was then left on a shelf for a year until an old friend with a healthy private economy named a sum and wanted something special. A true patron in other words. Yesterday my dear colleague Vegard and I were visited by Pål Lien and his apprentice Ciro Bright. We examined a number of goodies from KHMs storage, including tools from the Bygland find and a number of select axes, swords and spears.
