Quality milk starts with quality forage.

For decades, Orkel has helped farmers produce and preserve forage through high-density baling technology designed for efficient handling, storage, and feed quality.

Today, we celebrate dairy farmers around the world and the work they do every day.

Happy World Milk Day! 🥛

Turning stable waste into high-density bales at Royal Windsor Horse Show 🇬🇧♻️

At RWHS, New Horizon Plastic is using an Orkel Hi-X Evo to compact horse manure, wood shavings and straw from the stables as part of a composting process — reducing transport and improving handling of the material.

Great work from KS Baling (Dave & Lee) together with local operators on site 🚜

Even comedian Rory Bremner stopped by for a photo with the team and the Orkel machine in the background.

Today, we welcome Swiss journalists and our dealer Serco to Orkel 🇨🇭🇳🇴

They are here to revisit an important part of Orkel’s history — when Orkel and Baltensperger pioneered the world’s first maize silage round baling concept in the 1990s.

Today, Orkel technology is used worldwide across agriculture, industry, and waste applications, and our visitors got a closer look at modern high-density compaction technology in practice.

From MP 3000 prototype to today’s Dens-X Pro 🇨🇭🇳🇴

This video shows the beginning of it all – the MP 3000 prototype Compactor in action.

The Compactor – bale-wrapper system was first developed together with Baltensperger in Switzerland, and over the years, our dealers and customers have all played an important role in its development.

We are soon welcoming Serco, our Swiss dealer, together with journalists visiting Orkel to learn more about this journey.

From prototype to today – built on collaboration and innovation.

Made in Norway 🇳🇴
Today we’re proud to put the “Made in Norway” label on our Orkel Compactors.

From Swiss mountain farming challenges to pioneering maize compaction 🇨🇭🇳🇴

In Switzerland, many farms are located high in the mountains, while maize is grown in the valleys. Transporting loose maize uphill efficiently — without losing feed quality — was a challenge.

Together with Baltensperger, Orkel began developing new solutions in the late 1990s.

The first successful maize bale was produced in 1998 using a modified Orkel round baler. The photos show the successful MP3000 prototype, which later evolved into the MP2000 Compactor launched globally in 2001.

What started as a local farming challenge became the foundation for a new way of handling and transporting maize.
