As one comes out, another can come in

With Awatea back in the water and undergoing final finishing ahead of delivery, we can now welcome another project to our shipyard. A slot is available in one of our state-of-the-art construction halls, all of which feature full temperature control and comprehensive facilities for all types of work, from spot maintenance to full ReCrafts.

Within these halls, legacies have been maintained and preserved for yachts up to 65 metres. Balk Shipyard has written the next chapter for many masterpieces of the sea, built by our neighbouring Dutch colleagues.

Now is the time to enquire should you require works ahead of the forthcoming season.

Legacies. ReCrafted

Ursus took home a Judges' Commendation at the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards over the weekend.

As the committee writes: "The judges were impressed by the scope of Ursus' rebuild, which saw her extended by six metres to create a very different yacht. In one judge's words, the rebuild 'turned it into quite a nice, handsome little ship.'"

This was a challenging undertaking, and one we look back on proudly.

This weekend, the industry will descend on Venice for the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards – the Oscars of the industry.

We are proud that amongst the exceptional bill of nominated yachts is our latest ReCrafted Ursus. Completed together with Mulder Design, ReCrafted Ursus took 16 months and is one of the most structurally complicated extensions ever to be completed at the yard.

While the completed vessel left the yard 6 metres longer, the reality was far more complex – Balk Shipyard removed half of the existing vessel, leaving just 12 metres of midships, then added 18 metres of new construction (roughly 67% of her original length).

She was given a completely new hull for improved seakeeping, an enlarged split-level and glass-encased beach club, enhanced social spaces, and thoughtful details throughout to complement how this family wanted to spend time on the water.

Through this ReCraft, she has shed her skin and metamorphosed into a stunning explorer with a completely new identity.

The goal is the destination; routine maintenance is a means to that end.

This is why we invested in a custom lifting system that can safely haul yachts onto the hard, quickly – and even with masts in place. Few shipyards can lay claim to this. Even when yachts as large as the 64-metre sailing yacht Athos request a quick turnaround, we can deliver precisely that.
