𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱-𝗼𝘂𝘁 🎉🌊

A major milestone for the OranjeWind offshore wind project: the first monopile has been loaded out from Sif’s Maasvlakte terminal.

Sif is supplying 53 TP-less (transition piece-less) monopiles for OranjeWind, a joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies. The offshore wind farm will have a total capacity of 795 MW and will be located 53 kilometres off the Dutch coast.

Once fully commissioned, OranjeWind is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of around one million Dutch households each year. The transition piece-less design allows the turbines to be connected directly to the monopiles, reducing the amount of steel required.

A great milestone for the project and for everyone involved in bringing OranjeWind to life. ⚓

🎉 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱-𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮ł𝘁𝘆𝗸 𝟮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟯 🎉

What an achievement, the final monopiles for Bałtyk 2 and 3 have now been loaded out! In total, 100 monopiles and 100 transition pieces are being manufactured for the projects, corresponding to 100 foundation sets. The Equinor and Polenergia joint venture is responsible for the development of the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms.

Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 are separate wind farms, each with a planned capacity of 720 MW, combining to a total of 1.44 GW. Proud to see Sif’s work heading out to sea and becoming part of the next generation of offshore wind in the Baltic Sea. 🌊⚡

𝗔𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗷𝗱𝗲𝗻 👷‍♀️🦺

Working safely and getting home safely at the end of the day, that is what we strive for at Sif. For Cindy van der Heijden, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) Coordinator in Roermond, that starts with looking out for one another.

“One incident is one too many,” Cindy says.

When you see someone working in an unsafe situation, speaking up is important. But how we start that conversation matters too. Instead of simply repeating the rules, asking why can open up a real dialogue.

“Listening to one another does not mean you agree with what someone is doing. It gives that person the chance to explain their actions. From there, you can explain why a situation is unsafe and what needs to be done differently.”

For Cindy, a strong safety culture is about more than procedures, toolbox talks and systems. It is about behaviour: staying alert, stepping out of automatic pilot and taking unsafe situations seriously.

“We have to do this together. A risk-free life does not exist, but we must do everything we can to minimise risks. ‘Just quickly?’ That really is no longer an option.”

It’s stories like Cindy’s that show how safety is shaped every day, by the people behind Sif.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿: 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘅 🏆

At Sif, we believe that recognition matters. A genuine compliment can truly make someone’s day, and that is exactly why we introduced the Super Siffer Award: a way for colleagues to express their appreciation, gratitude and compliments to one another.

This time our previous winner, Leon Paffen, gets to pass the award on, and he has chosen Roger Damoiseaux, Resource and Production Officer in Roermond.

Leon shared why Roger deserves this recognition:
💬 “Roger always goes for what is best for Sif.”

Leon describes Roger as a loyal and driven colleague with a true Sif heart. Someone who thinks along, searches for answers and rolls up his sleeves until a solution is found.

Whether supporting the Maasvlakte as temporary Process Manager, helping out where needed, or continuing to think along from a distance, Roger is always committed.

As Leon puts it:
💬 “I see a driven colleague we can truly build on and rely on. He is a real driving force, even when the cart sometimes has square wheels.”

For Roger, the award is a real honour. After 𝟯𝟭 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗳, he has grown from manual welder to OP welder, hall coordinator, assistant production manager, production manager and now Resource and Production Officer.

💬 “Sif has become part of my life. When Sif is doing well, I am doing well too.”

Roger also emphasises the importance of taking responsibility, working together and asking for help when needed:
💬 “You do not have to know everything or get everything right, but you do have to take responsibility. I say: go for it.”

On 4 June, two Sif colleagues will take on an extraordinary challenge.

Mark Rutten (left) and Frank van Riet (right) will climb Alpe d’Huez: the iconic French mountain with 21 hairpin bends, 14.5 kilometres in length and 1,860 vertical metres. They will do so during Alpe d’HuZes, an event that raises funds for cancer research and for improving the quality of life of people living with cancer.

Mark will take on the mountain on foot, while Frank will complete the climb by bike. For both Mark and Frank, this challenge is deeply personal.

At Sif, we are proud to support colleagues who go the extra mile, or in this case, all the way up the mountain, for something bigger than themselves. Good luck, Mark and Frank. 💪

Loadouts for Bałtyk 2 & 3 spotted at our Maasvlakte site 👀🚢⚓

These monopiles, part of a total of 100, made their way to the Baltic Sea. A true milestone, as these projects mark Sif’s first projects at this location!

Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 are separate wind farms, each with a planned capacity of 720 MW, combining to a total of 1.44 GW. They are being installed in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea, located 37 km (Bałtyk 2) and 22 km (Bałtyk 3) from the coast, and fall under the Polish regulatory framework. The joint venture is between Equinor and Polenergia.

The project also includes 100 transition pieces, manufactured by Smulders and Sif. With this scale, the projects will contribute to powering millions of households and support the energy transition in Poland.
