On dense urban construction sites, noise is often the first thing that changes when a machine goes electric.

Diesel engines in heavy equipment run loud for the full working day. Operators feel it, and so do the people in the buildings and streets around the site. For contractors working in city centres, noise complaints are a recurring issue that adds pressure to projects that are already under tight constraints.

With an electric drivetrain, the combustion engine is out of the picture. The hydraulics and the mechanical work remain, but the overall noise level drops considerably.

Less noise on site changes more than you'd expect.

High-voltage integration in a construction machine requires a different engineering approach than in a passenger car.

Automotive EVs handle peak loads during acceleration and recover energy during braking. Those cycles are short and dynamic. An excavator works under near-constant load for hours at a time, in environments with dust, heavy vibration and wide temperature swings.

The voltage architecture has to handle that continuous demand while keeping the machine thermally stable and fully productive throughout the shift. Every architecture choice follows directly from the operating conditions the machine will face in the field.

Construction and automotive are two different disciplines.
The operating conditions determine the engineering.

Heavy-duty construction and industrial mobility are moving away from diesel, and the pace is picking up.

Integrated electric systems are already running in the field across construction, logistics and industrial applications. Modular platforms and OEM-ready architectures mean electrification can scale across full machine lines, covering entire product portfolios and multiple applications.

The systems are in the field. The standard is being set.

Scaling electrification in heavy-duty machines requires the full picture: engineering, production and deployment working together.

Electric systems developed with OEM networks and industrial production infrastructure in mind reach real working environments faster. Service access, repeatability and platform compatibility are part of the engineering process from day one, carried through from first build to series production.

The work on those details is what turns a prototype into a product line.

Zero-emission technology in heavy-duty applications depends on the full chain being in place.

Machine manufacturers, charging partners, training providers and system integrators all play a role. When those parts connect, electric machines can deliver the uptime and reliability that daily field operations demand. DEUTZ NewTech works across that chain, from drivetrain integration to safety training, to make zero-emission operation practical at scale.

The chain is what makes scale possible.

Charging logistics are one of the biggest practical barriers to electric operation in construction and industrial work.

Swappable battery packs in the 130 to 200 kWh range charge externally while the machine stays active on site. When a pack runs low, it gets swapped out, keeping the workflow running and the machine productive. The system keeps zero-emission performance practical across a full working day, even in demanding field conditions.

The machine stays productive. The work keeps moving.

High-voltage systems change the way workshop and site teams operate.

Preparation, coordination and technical confidence become part of everyday operations. Electric drivetrains require clarity in roles and consistency in ex*****on. When teams are aligned, high-voltage systems integrate smoothly into both site operations and workshop routines.

Strong electric machines start with strong architecture.

Deutz NewTech designs electric systems where drivetrain, controls, charging and safety work together from the first layout. In heavy-duty machines, stable performance comes from how well these elements are integrated, not from individual specs on paper. That's why we develop mechanical and electrical layout as one connected system.

Architecture first, performance follows.

Machines operate on fixed schedules. When one stops, the impact is immediate.

Swappable battery packs allow depleted units to recharge outside the machine while a fresh pack takes over. Charging and exchange moments are planned alongside daily operations, keeping heavy-duty equipment aligned with production demands.

Energy becomes part of the workflow, not a disruption to it.

Electric machines bring new service routines into the workshop.

Isolation steps and system checks are part of every inspection before work begins. Hands-on training and clear service procedures support technicians in handling high-voltage systems safely and consistently. Preparation makes maintenance structured and repeatable across the fleet.
