In automotive production, surface cleanliness and material behaviour are critical.

Dust attraction, unstable positioning or late-stage visual defects can quickly affect downstream quality.

Many of these issues are recurring symptoms of static charge on materials or parts.

In our latest article, we explain how to recognise static-related production problems before they escalate.

In automotive production, even small disturbances can affect surface quality, material behaviour or process stability and static can be a contributing factor.
Dust attraction, handling issues or disturbances in steps involving films, foils or interior components are common examples where static plays a role.

Our new article explains how static forms in industrial environments, how it interacts with different materials and why understanding its behaviour is key to maintaining consistent production.

When you build machines for high-speed production lines, stability is everything.

But static is one variable that doesn’t behave like a constant.
Speed changes, substrate differences, environmental shifts, all of them influence how a machine performs in the field.

For OEMs, the question becomes:
Do we integrate a stand-alone ionising bar, or does this application need closed-loop control to stay stable under varying conditions?

We’ve broken down the technical differences so you can make the right design choices from the start.

A must-read if your machine needs to run consistently across multiple speeds, materials or production environments.

Optimising production starts with understanding your process.

Production issues are not always caused by machines or materials alone.

Often, unseen factors such as static electricity influence process stability, quality and efficiency.

By understanding where disruptions occur and how static behaves throughout the production process, manufacturers can make targeted improvements. This leads to better control, fewer interruptions, and more consistent output.

Process optimisation starts with insight — and the right technical support helps turn that insight into measurable improvements.

In medical and pharmaceutical production, precision and clean handling are critical and static can influence both.
Static may attract particles, affect lightweight materials or interfere with precise handling steps.

Our article on static electricity provides a clear introduction to how static originates, how it behaves in sensitive environments and why correct measurement is an important first step in choosing the right approach.

In converting processes, materials often behave differently as speed, tension or conditions change.

- Films drift
- Labels shift
- Dust reappears even after cleaning.

These symptoms can be associated with static charge on non-conductive materials.

We’ve listed five production problems that commonly point to static-related issues in converting environments.

Closed-loop feedback is not always required.
In stable applications with consistent materials and operating conditions, stand-alone ionisation can be a suitable choice.

As soon as machine design must accommodate:
✅ variable speeds
✅ different substrates
✅ changing process conditions
✅ tight tolerances
static control shifts from a fixed function to a design-level decision.

We’ve mapped out the differences between both approaches.

Static isn’t always visible but its effects can be significant.
It can influence production in different ways: from materials sticking or repelling to dust attraction, handling issues on fast-running lines or operator shocks.

Understanding how static is generated - and where it builds up - is the first step towards stable and predictable production.

Our article explains:
• what static electricity is
• how it occurs in industrial processes
• how it can affect quality, handling and safety
• why proper measurement is essential to determine the right actions

Static electricity doesn’t always show up as one clear problem.
More often, it shows up as a pattern.

Recurring dust issues.
Materials that won’t stay in position.
Operators constantly adjusting settings.

When these symptoms keep returning, static can be part of the cause.

We’ve outlined five production problems that are frequently linked to static electricity and how to recognise when static control should be considered.

In automotive production, static directly affects surface cleanliness and surface quality.

It can attract dust or cause contamination on interior parts or surfaces that need to be clean before paint spraying or coating.

Static control in this industry is typically implemented with stand-alone ionisers or air-assisted solutions. Where more insight is required, for example during cleaning before paint preparation, IQ-based monitoring can provide clear status information confirming that the ionisation equipment is operating correctly.

This insight also supports preventive maintenance, helping users act before performance decreases or contamination risks increase.

In this article, we explain how stand-alone ionisers and IQ monitoring differ, and how each approach supports more controlled and verifiable static management.

15/01/2026

In the In Mould Labelling process, before moulding starts, a pre-printed label must be positioned accurately and remain stable inside the mould.

Electrostatic charging plays an essential role here. By applying a controlled static charge, the label is temporarily fixed in place, allowing the mould to close and the injection process to proceed without label movement or misalignment.

The result is a finished product where the optimal positioned label and part form a single, integrated unit.
