🚗⛰️ Sometimes you just need to swap food machinery for mountain passes…

This summer, father & son are taking the old Volvo on a proper Garbage Run adventure through the Alps!
Route planned: 🇦🇹 Austria → 🇸🇮 Slovenia → 🇮🇹 Italy → 🇩🇪 Germany

No luxury, no planning perfection… just tools, Duct tape, questionable decisions and hopefully enough horsepower to survive the mountains 😄

The WT Wheatsheaf Technical support vehicle is officially ready for “Trap ’m an – Alpen ’26”!

Our goal: restoring it to modern performance levels with the latest engineering standards.

We arrived in a surprisingly sunny Hull and headed straight to our first customer in Oldham. The mission: visit two customers in four days and personally deliver some urgent parts.

Next stop was an old pie bakery where we spent the day overhauling a Rademaker depositor and updating some very old Lenze inverters.

After a long day we were finally walking back to the car thinking about the drive home… when the phone rang. 📞

A “new” customer - although the last time we had been there was over 25 years ago! Somehow people always manage to track us down at the most unexpected moments.

This time the request was help with an old Rijkaart laminator from 1980 - possibly the oldest machine we’ve ever been asked to support. Dinner could wait, so we drove straight there.

Having left the Netherlands the day before, we finally started the journey home… but just as we were about to grab some food—ping! Another message. This time from an old friend and colleague in a different industry asking when Wheatsheaf Technical could come and offer some support.

Luckily that one can wait until the next UK trip 🇬🇧

Days like this remind us why we still enjoy this work after more than 30 years.

Thank you to all our customers - old and new. Without you our days might be easier… but we might actually get home before 22:00 and have dinner on time! 😄

On a recent trip to a valued customer in the UK, Wheatsheaf Technical (WT) acquired a selection of working and surplus electrical components from a Laminator — and we’re proud to put them back into action rather than letting them go to waste. 💡

These parts are now part of our growing sustainable stock and include:

Back at IBA in Düsseldorf — and it feels great!
Yesterday’s visit to was a fantastic opportunity to check out the latest innovations in the industry, reconnect with colleagues, and meet with customers from around the world.
The atmosphere was buzzing with energy, creativity, and great conversations.
