Another exciting project currently taking shape at the EWAC Medical factory.

Last week we started the pre-installing a new hydrotherapy project for Khorfakkan Hospital in the UAE, in close cooperation with our distributor Modern Pharmaceutical Company (MPC). The project combines a modular stainless steel hydrotherapy pool with a movable floor, integrated underwater treadmill, counter current system, underwater lighting, aqua bicycle and a complete cartridge filtration system.

By fully pre-assembling and testing the installation in our factory before shipment, we ensure smooth installation and commissioning on site while maintaining the highest quality standards. The installation phase in the UAE will follow soon.

A special thank you to Thiru Kumaran and Razik BPT MBA for the strong cooperation and continuous support throughout this project.

Meeting with Habitz Medtech – Taiwan

Last week, Joep de Graaf had the opportunity to meet with CT Lin from Habitz Medtech, our relatively new distributor in Taiwan.

What stood out during the discussions was the strong focus on long term value creation. For every project, CT carefully evaluates the ROI, with a target payback period of around five years. It was good to exchange ideas on how hydrotherapy and active rehabilitation solutions can contribute not only from a clinical perspective, but also from an operational and business point of view.

We also spent time with the Habitz team, including biomedical engineering and sports science specialists, discussing product applications, sports rehabilitation and the positioning of advanced rehabilitation solutions within the Taiwanese market.

Hydrotherapy is still relatively new in Taiwan, but there is clearly growing interest, enthusiasm and experience within the market. It is great to work with partners who are motivated to further develop this field locally.

Before flying home, Joep also made a short stop to meet with Nikan from KLN. During dinner, they discussed several encouraging developments in the region related to rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. Exciting adventures ahead!

We look forward to the next steps together.

Recently, Joep de Graaf visited Robocare Solutions in the Philippines and spent time with their team, led by Simon Rodriguez.

During the visit, Joep delivered a training session on hydrotherapy, focusing on applications, positioning and translating technical solutions into real value. Great to see the engagement and ambition within the team.

Thanks to Zhi from Fourier Intelligence for the introduction.

Initially we saw Robocare mainly as a rehabilitation robotics company, but they are building a much broader and increasingly complete rehabilitation portfolio.

From complete large-scale rehabilitation centres (including hydrotherapy projects) to their own clinic; the growth and ambition are clear.

Proud that EWAC Medical can be part of this journey.

ICEBAT 2026 in Toronto is behind us, and it was an inspiring few days for everyone involved in aquatic therapy.

EWAC Medical was proud to support this edition as a Silver Sponsor, with our Managing Director Eric Legdeur present to engage with clinicians, researchers and professionals from around the world. The conference once again confirmed the strength and global momentum of evidence-based aquatic therapy.

In addition to our sponsorship, we were pleased to support Oliver Krouwel as a speaker. He delivered a highly interesting presentation on chronic pain and the role of hydrotherapy, adding valuable clinical insight to the programme. We were also pleased to support the event by providing an obstacle course set for one of the workshops.

Over three days, ICEBAT brought together a unique group of world-class experts, including Johan Lambeck, Urs Gamper, Eugenia Hernandez Ruiz and many others, sharing research, clinical expertise and practical experience. The open discussions, high level of knowledge and willingness to collaborate made this event truly valuable for the continued development of our field.

We would also like to thank Urs Gamper for his work as Chairman of ICEBAT and for his many years of dedication to advancing aquatic therapy. Congratulations to Eugenia Hernández Ruiz on her new role as Chair, we wish you every success.

A special thank you to Alison Bonnyman and the entire organizing team for delivering such a well-structured and inspiring conference.

We return with new insights, strengthened connections and a clear motivation to continue contributing to the advancement of hydrotherapy worldwide.

Over the past two weeks, we had two valuable strategy sessions with Myrtha Pools.

Last week, we met with Loïc Vanderperre to dive into the technical side, including design principles, installation, and key engineering aspects. This week, we continued the discussion with Stefano Giorgetti, focusing on the commercial and strategic direction.

These conversations helped us align on how to position Myrtha in the Benelux market. It remains a market largely driven by traditional concrete solutions, but there is clear potential for alternative approaches that offer advantages in quality, speed, and long-term performance.

We also discussed how to approach the market more effectively, with a strong focus on building a solid and sustainable market presence together.

Many thanks to Loïc and Stefano for the open and constructive discussions. Looking forward to taking the next steps together. Step by step, session by session, we continue to refine and sharpen our strategy and approach.

A strong milestone delivered this week in Chile! The hydrotherapy project at Ñuble Hospital in Chillán has now been successfully completed and handed over.

This project brings together a fully integrated therapeutic environment, including a movable pool floor for precise depth adjustment, a complete water treatment system, counter current, and dedicated patient handling solutions. Designed to support every stage of rehabilitation, from early mobilisation to advanced functional training.

A special thank you to our distributor Andover Alianza Médica, and in particular Paula, Manuel and Eduardo, for the excellent collaboration and commitment throughout this project.

Proud of what we achieved together, and looking forward to the impact this facility will have for patients and therapists in the years ahead.

Over the past days, we visited several aquatic facilities across the Netherlands, including Twentebad (Hengelo), Plaza Sportiva (Groningen) and Zwembad Den Burg (Texel).

A highlight was meeting Ylija Melisie, an experienced pool manager with over two decades in aquatic facility management. Together with his team, he operates one of the most versatile swimming complexes in the region — delivering a wide range of services, from recreation and education to sports and rehabilitation.

The Twentebad is the largest swimming facility in the Twente region, serving around 450,000 visitors annually. With multiple indoor and outdoor pools, including 25m and 50m sports pools, it plays a key role for families, athletes, schools and healthcare providers alike. The integration of rehabilitation and therapy further underlines its broader societal value. One of the 50-meter pools has been refurbished with the RenovAction system from Myrtha Pools, and is in very good condition. RenovAction offers a durable and efficient way to upgrade existing pools with minimal downtime while significantly extending their lifespan and reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

Great to see how strong management and the right infrastructure come together in facilities like this.

What also stands out is that, despite many of these pools being around 10 years old or more, they are generally still in good to very good condition. Apart from some cleaning-related attention points, the overall quality and appearance remain strong.

Today is World Water Day, a moment to recognise the vital importance of water — not only as a fundamental resource for life, but also as a powerful therapeutic medium. Water supports physical function, enables movement with less strain, and creates an environment where patients can rehabilitate safely and effectively.

At EWAC Medical we see the impact of water every day in the field of hydrotherapy. In water the effects of gravity are reduced, allowing joints and muscles to move freely with less pain. This makes water-based exercise and therapy particularly valuable for individuals recovering from surgery, neurological conditions, chronic pain and mobility limitations.

Hydrotherapy helps improve strength balance coordination cardiovascular function and overall confidence in movement. In clinical settings water work can enhance long-term outcomes and support people in regaining independence and quality of life.

On this World Water Day we celebrate the therapeutic power of water and its role in rehabilitation and well-being. Learn more about how aquatic therapy supports recovery and quality of life here:
