Last weekend we continued one of our favourite traditions: the annual Avular team weekend. This time we headed to Domburg.

With the team growing fast, it was a good moment to spend proper time together and get to know our newer colleagues outside of work. From city games, visiting a cheese farm, boerengolf and bowling to a few brave colleagues who went straight into the sea, there was plenty to bring everyone together. We closed things off in style with a poker night on the final evening.

These weekends are a big part of what keeps the team connected as we grow.

A big thanks to our Team Onion organisers Bram, Tessa, Nikki, Mart, Joep and Babett for putting it all together!

Big news to share: our CEO and founder Albert Maas has won the Changemaker Award 2026. A recognition for our independence, persistence and in-house technology.

The award was presented last night by Michiel Muller (Picnic), Maarten van Dijk (SkyNRG) and Saskia Van Roode (nlgroeit) during Changemakers 2026 at the Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam, where nlgroeit also celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Albert was recognised for what he is building from Eindhoven: a European robotics industry that doesn't depend on foreign technology. At Avular we develop our hardware, software and AI in house. It's a slower and more expensive road, but it's what keeps us independent and lets us build from our own strength.

And Albert is the first to say the work is far from done. "For me it only really starts to make an impact when there are millions of robots in the field." Congratulations Albert, and thank you nlgroeit for the recognition.

As the Solheim Cup kicked off at Bernardus Golf here in Brabant, we're excited to share our collaboration with SGL: Avular is SGL's partner for the autonomy of the SGL GreenGuard, now entering commercial rollout.

GreenGuard is an autonomous robot that treats golf greens with UVC light at night, keeping turf healthy without pesticides or an operator on the machine. It follows a route from green to green, stops for anything in its path, and delivers precise disease prevention while everyone sleeps, returning to its charging station on its own.

We're proud that , the course that this week also sets the stage for the , was the site of the first pilot. As 's partner for autonomy, we develop the navigation and control that let the GreenGuard do the work on its own.

We've been applying autonomous technology in a place you might not expect. While the course is empty, autonomous operations take over, working through the night with consistent precision and without an operator.

This Tuesday, Avular once again took part in TU/e's Master Kick-Off Challenge Day, this time with our "Urban Robot of the Future" challenge.

New Master students spent the day exploring Challenge-Based Learning, working in teams on real-world issues across a range of themes. Our challenge filled up quickly, with 31 students working in our classroom.

Introducing this new generation of students to robotics is important to us. Hearing how young people approach a problem, the questions they ask and the ideas they come up with, is inspiring every time.

Thank you to all the students who joined our challenge, and to TU/e innovation Space for organizing another great kick-off to the academic year.

Last Friday, we wrapped up the quarter with our annual Rooftop BBQ. ☀️

Despite the heat wave, we stayed cool with cold drinks, shade, and good company, making it another memorable afternoon together. The Hawaiian theme matched the weather perfectly, giving the rooftop a more tropical feel with flower necklaces, Hawaiian shirts, and colorful decorations.

As always, the food was prepared by our own colleagues, with plenty of delicious dishes (both grilled meats and vegetarian options) to enjoy.

A big thank you to the Onion Committee and Scalogno team for organizing another great BBQ, and to everyone for participating and bringing the good vibes. 🌴

We are at ICRA this week in Vienna (International Conference on Robotics & Automation). The event brings together researchers, engineers and companies from around the world. It's inspiring to see all the developments in robotics and meet others in this field. If you're also at the event, find us at Booth 154.

This morning, to celebrate Labor Day and take a moment to appreciate each other, we started the day with a shared breakfast in the office.

There was a buffet with freshly baked bread, croissants, bagels, pancakes, scrambled eggs, veggies and fresh fruits. A simple but nice way to slow down together and start the day.

On top of that, everyone received a handwritten card from their manager with a few words of appreciation.

Thanks to the HR and Marketing team (Tessa, Jolanda, Eef and Babett) for organizing and preparing this breakfast!

In our TY office, we’ve created a series of fully illustrated posters for 14 meeting rooms, each named after scientists and artists who continue to inspire us.

The illustrations, including portraits and key elements they are known for, were created in-house by Each room reflects an innovative spirit and a way of thinking that still influences how we work today, with names such as Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie, Niels Bohr, Rosalind Franklin, Erwin Schrödinger, and Charles Darwin, among others. It was a big project, and it’s great to finally see everything come together on the walls.

A small detail in the office, but one that adds meaning to the spaces we use every day.

This Drone Race got competitive fast...
40 people, a tight course and high energy at TWICE Eindhoven. This was a fun way to spend after hours and we even took the win, both solo and the team win 🏆 Thanks for Rik van den Reijen and Sieuwe Elferink for organizing!
