After years of operating as Telic Engineering Ltd, we've transitioned to Telic Engineering B.V.

Same company, same person, same expertise in control & instrumentation. Just a different legal wrapper.

Telic Engineering has always been based in the Netherlands, but running a UK Ltd here was turning into a growing list of administrative hurdles and increased costs.

So, we've made the switch to a Dutch B.V. Simpler, cleaner.

Telic Engineering proudly contributed to the completion of commissioning activities for our client, Woodward, on the Njord A platform offshore Norway. This project involved representing Baker Hughes in performing the commissioning of upgraded controls for a gas turbine-compressor and two gas turbine-generators.

Located approximately 130 kilometres northwest of Kristiansund, Norway, the Njord A platform is a key asset for Equinor in the Norwegian Sea. Discovered in 1986, the field began production in 1997 and recently underwent significant upgrades to extend its operational life until 2040. Telic Engineering’s role was part of this comprehensive upgrade program, specifically focusing on the critical task of ensuring the smooth operation of the retrofitted LM2500 gas turbine control systems.

Our commissioning activities brought the gas turbine-generators and compressor online, enabling the Njord A platform to resume production and export activities.

This successful project further demonstrates Telic Engineering’s expertise in commissioning complex oil and gas field upgrades, even in challenging offshore environments.

Annual Inspection, Brae Alpha Platform

Telic Engineering completed an assignment for Woodward, representing their client Baker Hughes at TAQA’s Brae Alpha platform, located offshore Aberdeen, UK.

The primary task involved conducting an annual inspection focused on the instrumentation and control systems of the LM2500+ G4 SAC gasturbine generator package. This comprehensive inspection is vital for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of the gasturbine.

In addition to the inspection, provided crucial support for the startup of the gas turbine.

More specifically the inspection included..

Telic Engineering, a specialist in instrumentation and control for LM gasturbines, completed an assignment to represent Woodward and support Baker Hughes at the INEOS SIRI platform offshore Esbjerg, Denmark.

The project involved performing inspections, calibrations of instrumentation and control for a LM2500 gasturbine package, and startup support after an exchange of the LM2500.

Telic Engineering was selected for the assignment because of its expertise in instrumentation and control with LM gasturbines, as well as its experience working in an offshore environment.

The company was able to complete the project successfully and on time by working closely with the INEOS and Baker Hughes technicians. The assignment resulted in corrective actions, recommendations, and a successful startup and operation of the gasturbine.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Woodward and Baker Hughes on the INEOS SIRI platform, and we are excited to be a part of this collaborative effort to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the platform.

Preventative Maintenance on Gasturbines at FPSO

In the oil, gas, and energy industry, collaborations between companies like Woodward, Baker Hughes, and Dana Petroleum are pivotal. These alliances become especially vital when dealing with complex machinery such as gasturbines.

But what is a gasturbine in simple terms? A gasturbine, fundamentally, is an engine that converts natural gas or other liquid fuels into mechanical energy. This energy then drives a generator, producing electricity. It operates through a three-step process: air intake and compression, fuel combustion, and power generation.

Gasturbines serve various purposes, from power generation to mechanical drive applications. They play an essential role in the oil and gas industry, specifically in offshore operations where a company like Dana Petroleum operates a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) installation.

A FPSO is a vessel used in the oil and gas industry to receive fluids like crude oil from nearby platforms or subsea wells, process them, and store the oil until it can be offloaded onto a tanker or transported through a pipeline.

Preventative maintenance in this setting is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance of these gas turbines. It entails regular and systematic inspection, detection, and rectification of potential failures before they occur. An example of preventative maintenance is the replacement of a gas metering valve, a vital component of the gas turbine.

Telic Engineering represented both Woodward and Baker Hughes in performing a series of tasks on a LM6000 PC gas turbine-generator package at the Triton FPSO. These tasks included preventative maintenance, control health checks, replacing a gas metering valve, troubleshooting, and start-up support.

In conclusion, effective partnerships between companies like Woodward, Baker Hughes, supported by Telic Engineering, ensures the smooth operation of the Dana gasturbines and FPSO, contributing significantly to efficient oil and gas production.
