KARA Energy Systems KARA Energy Systems is a worldwide supplier of complete combustion systems for wood and other biomass.

Wood is a environmental neutral source of energy. When it is burnt, a certain amount of CO2 will be released, but if it is not burnt, the same amount of CO2 will emerge from the decaying process. Hence, heating by wood burning under optimal conditions is climate neutral and socially responsible. KARA supplies these optimal conditions, e.g. with its partner Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment, with in

stallations for the generation of sustainable electricity with combined heat and power installations . With its 100 years of experience, KARA knows, like no other in the business, how to burn wood efficiently for heat production. The heat can be used for instance for heating industrial halls or greenhouses, but also the heat can be used for the generation of electricity for own use or delivery to the grid. That is why KARA installations are the answer to rising energy prices. A KARA energy system is delivered turn-key, and our engineers won’t leave before the installation is fully operational.

A milestone in Lovech: Boiler House No. 2 is officially open. 🇧🇬🔥

Last week marked an important moment in the history of our customer Furajni Hrany in Lovech, Bulgaria.

Back in 2017, KARA Future Energy Systems installed the first biomass combustion system at their production facility, using straw as a renewable fuel.

Last week, almost ten years later, we proudly opened Boiler House No. 2, together with our CEO Robert Reinders, W***y Bijen and Arthur den Hartog, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bulgaria.

What makes this project special is the circular approach behind it. Furajni Hrany uses straw from its own agricultural land: a residual stream from growing the ingredients used in its cat and dog food. Instead of going to waste, this straw is converted into energy for the production process.

The result? A pet food manufacturer that has significantly reduced its dependence on natural gas, produces with a very low carbon footprint and has created an almost fully circular production process.

From growing ingredients to producing pet food and generating energy from the remaining straw. The circle is nearly complete. 🌾 → 🔥 → ⚡

A great example of how locally available biomass can contribute to a more sustainable and circular industry.

We are proud to have been part of this journey since 2017 — and even prouder to see the second KARA biomass system now officially in operation.

Tomorrow, the sun is switching off the lights for a moment… 🌑🌞

On 12 August, we’ll get to witness a remarkable natural phenomenon: a solar eclipse. A little less sunshine for a while, but all the more reason to look up and enjoy the spectacle.

And from our biomass perspective, we can’t resist a small wink:
- Solar energy? Fantastic… as long as the sun is shining.
- Biomass energy? Still available tomorrow. 😉

Of course, there’s no need to choose between the two. The energy transition is all about creating a smart mix of renewable energy sources, each with its own strengths.

Piece by piece, the ETORKI Industria de la madera project in Spain is coming to life. 🇪🇸

With construction activities progressing on site, the biomass installation is increasingly revealing its final form. A complex project in which engineering, craftsmanship and teamwork come together.

Once completed, the installation will provide a reliable and sustainable source of heat for the wood industry, supporting a more circular use of biomass resources.

Another milestone reached, and many more to come.
