*SPE ABU ZARIA EMERGES CHAMPIONS OF THE 2025 SPENC PAPER CONTEST — CLINCHES FIRST PLACE IN BOTH UNDERGRADUATE AND PHD CATEGORIES*
The 2025 edition of the SPE Nigeria Council Student Paper Contest (SPENC) was held from 3rd to 5th April at Bayero University Kano, alongside the Africa Petrobowl and Energy Challenge competitions. The contest brought together some of the brightest student researchers from SPE chapters across Nigeria, competing in the Undergraduate and PhD categories.
SPENC Paper Contest is a prestigious platform that challenges students to present original technical research relevant to the oil and gas industry. Each participant is evaluated based on the technical depth of their paper, the clarity of their presentation, and the industry applicability of their work.
In a spectacular show of academic excellence, *SPE Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Student Chapter claimed *first place in both the Undergraduate and PhD categories* — an extraordinary double win that affirms the chapter’s position as a technical and research powerhouse.
Also remarkable in this year’s competition:
*University of Uyo* secured *second place*
*University of Ibadan* emerged *third*
