Find out how to identify genuine spark plugs, practically!

If you're one of the many struggling with identifying genuine iridium or platinum spark plugs, watch this video carefully. You'll learn a lot.

It shows you what the differences are between the high-quality, purpose-built spark plugs and counterfeit ones, no matter the brand you go for. Because some resellers may want to raise prices of their counterfeit spark plugs, do well to check out the other pointers before purchasing.

Ever wondered what the spark difference is between single iridium and double iridium spark plugs? They are also known as 'fine wire' tip spark plugs.

The spark plug on the left has iridium center electrode with a standard cathode. The one on the right has iridium center electrode, as well as fine wire iridium on the cathode.

You'll notice that while the single iridium model tends to scather sparks around the cathode, the double iridium model is concentrating it's sparks on the upper iridium. This has consistent spark kernel, which optimises engine performance better. It also has better anti-fouling capability, due to its concentrated sparks. Genuine single iridium spark plugs are great, but the doubles are better.
