Topic: The wisdom to keep excelling in life.
Text: Proverbs 10:5
“He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.”
Gathering means preserve, to keep, to sustain. That’s is what wise son and daughter will do in harvest.
Many toiled, sows but never learn how to preserve their results, to make it still functional. It is a defect. Imagine buying a new car, but no plan for it maintenance. The car will be useless after some time and will break down.
That is what Some of us do: we pursue result but the plan to making the result stay existing and relevant we don’t put that in perspective.
The question you should ask at every effort you make is “do I have what it takes to sustain these harvest coming? Do I have the wisdom to sustain it? What will I need to preserve this new position, opportunity, blessings, office, class, level, peradventure God answers my prayer an petitions. What will I do to make it running?
It cuts across all areas of lives: Ministerially, financially, academically, maritally etc. Imagine a student whose aim and pursuit is to have good grades, but doesn’t know what do with it after. Or a bachelor/spinster who wants to get married, but doesn’t know how to build a home. He or She is sleeping when they are supposed to take care of the family.
God has blessed many of us but the ability to sustain it has taken it from us. Yet we cry as if we have not been blessed by God.
What we should cry out for from God is the wisdom to sustain what God has given us.
