𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

Over the weekend, the Share Hubs Engineering team was on the ground engaging directly with traders and farmers across selected markets as part of our ongoing research into post-harvest losses in onions.

Our goal was simple but critical: gather first-hand insights on the real challenges stakeholders face daily, from handling and storage to transportation and market dynamics. The conversations were rich, practical, and deeply informative.

We also visited the Vegetable Hub for Africa, where we explored ongoing efforts and opportunities for collaboration aimed at strengthening the vegetable value chain.

Key observations from the field:
• Persistent storage limitations continue to drive avoidable losses
• Harvesting, transportation and handling practices remain a major pain point
• Stakeholders are eager for affordable, practical post-harvest solutions
• Strong interest exists in training and improved infrastructure

These field engagements reinforce an important truth: sustainable solutions must be built with the people who experience the losses firsthand.
