Act With Speed And Recover Lost Ground (Pt. 2)
“So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, ‘Quickly, make ready three measures of fine meal; knead it and make cakes.’” Genesis 18:6 (NKJV)
Yesterday, we saw that Abraham’s destiny-changing encounter began with discernment. He lifted his eyes, recognized that the three men before him were not ordinary visitors, and ran to meet them. However, discerning your moment is only the beginning; you must act on what you discern. Abraham did not merely recognize the visitation and return to his tent. He initiated a conversation, saying, “My Lord, if I have now found favour in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant” (Genesis 18:3). He offered them water, rest, and food, taking responsibility for the opportunity before him. This reveals another dimension of divine speed: initiative. Sometimes, what appears to be waiting on God is actually God waiting for you to take the next step. When you discern an opportunity, do not hesitate to make the call, start the process, submit the proposal, attend the meeting, reach out to the right person, or act on the instruction. Your response can determine what happens next.
Abraham’s response then became increasingly urgent: “So Abraham hurried into the tent” (Genesis 18:6). He instructed Sarah to prepare quickly, ran to the herd, selected a tender and good calf, and hastened its preparation (Genesis 18:6–7). His speed was not careless; it was purposeful, precise, and excellent. He understood that time was of the essence. After serving the visitors, he remained present and properly positioned, and then came the declaration: “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life; and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son” (Genesis 18:10). The promise Abraham had waited approximately twenty-five years to see now received a definite timeframe. This is the progression: discernment led to initiative, initiative led to action, and action positioned Abraham for the manifestation of his long-awaited promise. What instruction are you sleeping over? What decision are you postponing? What opportunity are you overthinking? Do not merely recognize your moment, act on it. Receive grace to move with speed, wisdom, and excellence, and to pursue, overtake, and recover all that has been lost, in Jesus Mighty Name.
PRAYER
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I receive grace to act promptly on every divine opportunity and instruction. Give me the wisdom to initiate, the speed to execute, and the grace to do all things with excellence. I receive grace to pursue, overtake, and recover all that belongs to me, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
KEEP IN MIND
Discerning your moment is only the beginning; you must act on what you discern to recover all.
