*OGUN 2023: Dapo Abiodun in panic mode, plans Greek Gifts for Local Government Workers Ahead of Election*

The Ladi Adebutu/Akinlade Campaign Organisation has described the planned meeting of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, with the staff of the 20 Local Governments in the state slated for Thursday, 19th January, 2023 ahead of the forthcoming general elections as a panic move and fake recognition of the civil servants.

According to a release by the Director of Media of the Organisation, Afolabi Orekoya, the planned meeting scheduled to hold at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta is a smokescreen and deceitful ploy to hoodwink the civil servants whom he had disrespected over the years.

Orekoya, who queried why the Abiodun-led administration failed to recognise the workers for almost four years, also wondered why the entitlements of the abandoned Local Government staff were denied for four years.

He said, “It is obvious that the APC government already knows that their time is up. Instead to be preparing their handing over notes, they are running helter skelter to carry out last-minute damage control."

“Not until we unveiled our Itura de Agenda which include the financial autonomy of the Local Government and workers’ welfare, the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led government has placed no value on Local Government and its workers,” the statement added.

Orekoya further said, "If the government was empathetic, what was the initial intervention plan put in place to meet the civil servants before now? There were no communications with the workers because the Governor has no regard for them until now. Why wait till complaints were raised and election is in few weeks time?"

“It is obvious that the present government lacks empathy and is not directly concerned about workers' plight, hence the reason it does not take workers’ affairs as priority."

"Our civil servants should be regarded as valuable and responsible for every progress and development of the state. For a government that has not treated the workers well for almost four years, it is strongly advised that our great workers should be careful and not allow the government to deceive them with Greek Gifts for the purpose of elections," the statement concluded.
