🏗️ RIBBED SLAB — LIGHTER, STRONGER & EFFICIENT
A ribbed slab is a structural floor system designed with closely spaced ribs that work together with a thin topping slab to carry and distribute loads effectively.
One major advantage is weight reduction. By removing unnecessary concrete from the tension zone, ribbed slabs can reduce the self-weight of the floor while still providing adequate structural performance when properly designed.
🔹 Key Advantages of Ribbed Slabs
✅ Reduced dead load on beams and columns
✅ Efficient use of concrete and reinforcement
✅ Suitable for larger spans
✅ Can reduce structural material consumption
✅ Provides a neat and organized structural system
However, ribbed slabs must be properly designed and detailed. Rib spacing, rib dimensions, reinforcement, topping thickness, concrete grade, loading and span must be determined based on structural calculations—not assumptions or site practice alone.
👷♂️ Good construction starts with good engineering.
At Mr Seg’s Global Concept, we believe every structural element should be properly planned, supervised and executed to specification.
