New Energy Asia Introduces Advanced EV Charging Equipment
The HICOM Engineering – Hangzhou Flash Charging Joint Venture to have exclusive rights over electric vehicle charging equipment within the ASEAN region

Kuala Lumpur – June 13, 2025 – New Energy Asia Sdn. Bhd (“New Energy Asia”), a new joint venture between HICOM Engineering Sdn Bhd (“HESB”) and Hangzhou Flash Charging New Energy Co Ltd (“HFC”), has introduced a wide range of state-of-the-art, high quality, reliable electric vehicle (“EV”) charging equipment for the Malaysian and ASEAN market. HESB is a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad and HFC is a subsidiary of Lotus Technology Inc.
The strategic collaboration between HESB and HFC combines the industry expertise, strong brand heritage, and operational capabilities of both parties to deliver reliable and efficient EV charging solutions across Malaysia and the ASEAN region. HFC maintains a proven track record in delivering high-quality EV charging technology, with extensive experience in China as well as other international markets including Germany and Kuwait.
The newly-formed New Energy Asia was officially launched by YAB Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation. Also present were Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of HESB and also Group Managing Director of DRB-HICOM, Mr Feng Qingfeng, Chief Executive Officer of the Lotus Group, Encik Hazrin Fazail Haroon, Chief Operating Officer, HICOM Engineering Sdn Bhd, and Mr Gordon Lee, Chief Executive Officer of New Energy Asia.
New Energy Asia will distribute a wide portfolio of EV charging equipment currently produced by HFC. This includes high-end LOTUS-branded chargers, in particular the state-of-the-art 450kW liquid-cooled all-in-one DC charger capable of charging the Lotus Emeya from EV State of Charge (SOC) 10% to 80% within just 14 minutes.
Its product lineup also features various other offerings such as 7kW, 11 kW, and 22kW smart AC chargers, as well as 30 to 240 kW air-cooled DC chargers and 300-450kW liquid-cooled DC chargers. The 7kW / 11kW / 22kW AC chargers can be customised to user requirements.
Additionally, the company will supply advanced energy storage systems to support the growing demand for sustainable home and commercial energy solutions.
