When specifying fire-rated ductwork for 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀, 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀, the first question is usually:

Fire performance is fundamental. But for critical environments, perhaps we should also ask:

“𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴?”

Fire-rated ductwork may incorporate coatings, insulation, sealants and other protective materials. Depending on the application, these should also be considered for:

• Low VOC emissions
• Outgassing performance
• Heavy-metal and asbestos content
• Boron-related emissions
• Particle shedding
• Chemical composition
• Cleanroom compatibility

For example, 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗗𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲-𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗩𝗢𝗖 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆-𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝘀𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗴𝗮𝘀, with environmental considerations including 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗠 𝗘𝗰𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹 requirements.

Not every project requires every test. The key is ensuring that 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 💙

This year, the 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗗𝘂𝗰𝘁 team travelled to Yunnan, China, exploring the beautiful landscapes of Dali, Lijiang and Shangri-La.

The weather was cold, and we had our share of rain along the way. ☔️❄️ But one of the most memorable moments was watching a show together in the rain and cold. Instead of letting the weather dampen our spirits, we laughed, stayed together and enjoyed the experience.

Sometimes, it’s not the perfect weather or perfect conditions that make a trip memorable — 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵.

Last year, we travelled to Tokuyama, Japan. This year, Yunnan, China. Different destinations, different experiences, but the same 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗗𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁.
