Pasir Gudang, 30 April 2025 — Lembaga Pelabuhan Johor (LPJ) officially received the upgraded Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) from EDM Global Tech in a formal handover ceremony held today at LPJ’s headquarters.

The event marks the successful completion of the VTMS upgrade project, awarded to EDM Global Tech as the principal contractor. The enhanced system is designed to improve maritime traffic monitoring, enhance navigational safety, and support more efficient port operations within the Port of Tanjung Pelepas.

The ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both organizations, including officials from LPJ’s technical and operations divisions, as well as EDM Global Tech’s project and systems integration teams. During the session, the upgraded system was demonstrated, and final technical documentation was formally presented to LPJ.

“This upgraded VTMS represents a critical step in strengthening the port’s digital infrastructure and enhancing our maritime domain awareness,” said Mr. Fuad bin Naemon, Marine and VTMS Senior Manager at LPJ. “We thank EDM Global Tech for their professionalism, technical expertise, and timely delivery of the project.”

EDM Global Tech expressed appreciation for the trust placed in them and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting LPJ through continued technical support and system maintenance services.

The newly commissioned system includes AIS integration, real-time tracking, and MarineAI an enhanced decision support tools—ensuring Lembaga Pelabuhan Johor remains at the forefront of maritime safety and traffic management in Malaysia.

EDM Global Tech has successfully conducted the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the Pharos Marine Automatic Power (PMAPI) AIS ATON (Automatic Identification System Aids to Navigation) system at Omega Integration Pte Ltd, Singapore. This test is a crucial step in the deployment of the AIS ATON system for the CPOC (Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company) Phase 6 Project.

The FAT was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from CPOC, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE), and AKAS. The process involved rigorous testing of the AIS ATON system, ensuring it meets the technical specifications and operational requirements critical to the success of the CPOC Phase 6 Project.

The PMAPI AIS ATON system, essential for enhancing maritime safety and navigation, was put through comprehensive testing scenarios at Omega Integration’s facility. The successful completion of these tests confirms the system’s readiness for installation and integration into the project's communication infrastructure.

The test took place at EDM Global Tech’s premises and was attended by representatives from the client, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE), and AKAS, the project's key stakeholders.

The FAT is a crucial milestone in the project, ensuring that the Saab R60 VDES base station meets the stringent technical specifications and operational requirements set forth for the CPOC Phase 6 Project. The rigorous testing process included a thorough examination of the base station’s functionality, performance under simulated operational conditions, and compliance with the project’s quality standards.
