We are proud to see the Setia Bayuemas Sales Gallery featured across eight pages in Architecture Malaysia, Volume 38, Issue 3.

This is a project with real presence. Its bold floating roof, distinctive gold toned façade and open, light filled interior work together to create a warm and memorable sense of arrival.

More importantly, the building was designed to be more than a commercial space. It serves as the first introduction to the wider Setia Bayuemas community, giving visitors a place to meet, explore and begin to feel connected to their future surroundings.

For Straits Consulting Engineers, our responsibility extended beyond resolving the engineering requirements. We worked closely with the wider team to address the project’s technical demands while preserving the architectural intent, character and atmosphere envisioned from the beginning.

There is a special satisfaction in seeing a completed project function as intended while retaining the qualities that make it distinctive. That is the kind of outcome we care about.

Our sincere appreciation goes to S P Setia Bhd Group for its trust, Arkikraf Sdn Bhd for its inspiring design vision, and every consultant, contractor and team member who helped bring the project to life.

Straits Consulting Engineers conducted our first site visit for the Sungai Tebrau rehabilitation project, together with officers from JPS Negeri Johor and JPS Daerah Johor Bahru. The objective is to identify critical stretches where river degradation and erosion has occured.

The team walked several locations along the river corridor and its tributaries over the course of the morning, covering the upper industrial stretch through to the residential areas and jetty downstream. The visit focused on observing existing conditions first-hand, including bank stability, debris accumulation along the channel, and areas along the corridor with a known history of flooding.

The session concluded at the Pusat Informasi Sungai Skudai, which provided a useful reference for how river facilities can be integrated with public access and awareness.

Our appreciation to the officers from both JPS offices for their time and guidance throughout the morning. Site observations of this kind are essential to grounding the design work that follows.

Straits Consulting Engineers is proud to see the handover of the Marine Police District 3 Headquarters project in Tok Bali, Kelantan.

Straits led the civil and structural engineering services for this important development, including the design, authority submissions, tender documentation and construction supervision.

The project comprises the Marine Police headquarters, administration and engineering buildings, staff quarters, the Semerak River jetty, maintenance workshop, multipurpose hall and other supporting infrastructure.

Congratulations to all parties involved in delivering this significant facility. We hope the new development will strengthen the operational capabilities of the Marine Police in safeguarding Malaysia’s waters, while providing a more conducive working environment for its personnel.

We are honoured to have contributed to infrastructure that supports national security, public service and the wellbeing of the community.

BUKAN SEKADAR MARKAS OPERASI, KEBAJIKAN WARGA PPM TURUT DIPERKASA

Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN) terus memperkukuh kebajikan dan kesejahteraan warga Pasukan Polis Marin (PPM) menerusi penyediaan kemudahan sokongan yang menyeluruh di Markas PPM Wilayah Tiga Tok Bali, Kelantan. Selain kemudahan operasi, markas baharu ini turut dilengkapi Taska dan Tadika, surau berkapasiti 200 jemaah, dewan serbaguna, Mes Pegawai, kafeteria serta kemudahan PERKEP.

KDN akan terus memastikan aspek kebajikan anggota diberikan perhatian sewajarnya seiring dengan usaha memperkukuh keupayaan operasi, kesiapsiagaan aset dan keberkesanan penguatkuasaan dalam menjaga keselamatan serta kedaulatan perairan negara.

Straits Consulting Engineers is pleased to support SWaM 2026: National Conference on Stormwater Management as an official event partner!

​Organised by DID Malaysia and MSO, this year’s theme — "Inspired by Nature, Engineered for Resilience" — highlights the crucial role of integrating green infrastructure, smart urban planning, and robust engineering to tackle flood risks and climate challenges.

​Our Managing Director, Ir. Amin Ramli, had the privilege of chairing the technical session on Day 1, engaging in vibrant discussions on:

- ​Integrating Nature-based Solutions (NbS) into urban spatial frameworks (Muhammad Anwar Ramli, PLANMalaysia)
- ​Multi-functional landscape architecture for urban resilience (Prof. LAr. Dr. Nor Atiah Ismail, ILAM/UPM)
- ​Shared stakeholder ownership of flood risk under the MSMA framework (Ir. R. Sreedaran, SK Water Consult)

Merdeka gave us the freedom to determine our own future. Sixty-nine years later, that future remains a shared responsibility.

Malaysia has made remarkable progress, but our journey is far from complete. As we navigate economic pressures, environmental challenges and the differences that sometimes divide us, we must continue choosing understanding over suspicion, responsibility over indifference, and the common good over individual interest.

For us at Straits Consulting Engineers, nation-building is more than constructing physical infrastructure. It is about helping create communities that are safer, more connected and better prepared for the future.

This Merdeka, may we find renewed hope in what Malaysia can become, and the strength to build that future together.

Straits Consulting Engineers Sdn. Bhd. is honoured to have formally signed the Surat Setuju Terima (SST) for the project Pembinaan Ibu Pejabat Daerah (IPD) Bagan Datuk dan Balai Polis Bagan Datuk serta Perumahan, Perak.

The SST was signed this week at Menara Kerja Raya, Kuala Lumpur.

Representing Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Malaysia, the SST was signed by Ir. Noreha Binti Nordin, Pengarah Kanan, Cawangan Kejuruteraan Awam dan Struktur (CKAS) and witnessed by Ir. Md Khairi Bin Yaacob, Pengarah Khidmat Pakar dan Pengurusan, CKAS.

Representing Straits Consulting Engineers, the SST was signed by Ir. Amin Bin Ramli, Managing Director, and witnessed by Ir. Wan Hazman Wan Noor.

We are deeply grateful for the confidence and trust placed in our team. This project is more than the delivery of physical infrastructure. It will provide modern facilities to support policing operations, enhance public safety, and improve the living environment of those who serve the community.

As consulting engineers, we recognise the responsibility that comes with projects of national importance. We look forward to working closely with JKR and all stakeholders to deliver a facility that meets the highest standards of quality, functionality and long-term value.
