Ironwoods Shipbuilding Company was founded by the late Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong in Kuching on 2nd September 1973 specialized in shipbuilding, ship maintenance, marine engineering, steel and aluminium construction of vessels and barges. Since 1973, it has built more than 50 vessels and boats of various types and sizes and has repaired thousands of vessels.

Since our operation, Ironwoods Shipyard is now one of the leading shipbuilding companies in Sarawak, with dedicated skilled and experienced workforce of more than 40 years working in the company, ranging from administrative and supervisors, certified welders, markers, fitters and production workers. Besides our skilled workforce, our company also has lots of machinery properties such as roller, milling, welding and shearing machines. The company is still keeping its momentum going, upgrading its quality of products and services. Therefore, Ironwoods Shipbuilding Company manages to produce a high quality vessel in a very short time and the company is planning to go towards wider market. having licensees/partners include Universal Engineering Works (UEW) & RY Forklift Sdn Bhd forming stronger and strategic productivity than before to ensure our customers' satisfaction,

We are now focusing more on ship repairs/maintenance, survey and docking for government as well as commercial/private vessels.
