🚨BREAKING: A Frontier Airlines flight struck and killed a person on the runway during takeoff at Denver International Airport last night.
Officials say the individual jumped the airport perimeter fence and ran onto active Runway 17L directly into the path of Frontier Flight 4345, an Airbus A321 preparing for departure.
The plane reportedly hit the person just minutes later near the mid-field section of the runway.
Pilots immediately aborted takeoff near V1 speed as flames briefly erupted from the engine after impact and smoke began filling parts of the cabin.
Passengers were forced to evacuate down emergency slides in terrifying scenes on the runway. 12 minor injuries were reported, but everyone onboard survived.
Authorities are calling it a deliberate trespass, but the incident is now raising major questions about airport security and how someone was able to breach the perimeter and reach an active runway at one of America’s busiest airports.
The FAA and NTSB have launched an investigation.
