To promote and encourage the development of renewable energy in Malaysia, the government has introduced the Solar for Rakyat Incentive Scheme (Solaris) program, which aims to incentivize the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential properties under the Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme.
According to the Minister of Energy and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, SolaRIS will enhance the adoption of solar power generation under the NEM scheme. Starting from April 1st of this year, new NEM Rakyat users who submit NEM applications to the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia will provide rebates of RM1,000/kWac up to a maximum of RM4,000 to new NEM Rakyat users.
