- Inspiration to Green the Planet -

The founder of Grenohware is a material engineer with 3 years experiences of R&D in Singapore. It sparked his interest in developing eco-friendly and biodegradable products started 8 years ago where his final year project is turning agricultural wastes into eco-friendly products in Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). In, 2015, he quit his jobs to develop the eco-friendly tableware by utilizing palm leaves from coconut and oil palm.

As we know, 50% of 400 million tonnes of plastic being produced worldwide annually is single-use plastic like cutlery, straw, food packaging, etc. There are about 8 million tonnes of plastic wastes ended up in the ocean which will endanger the marine life every year.

In the current market, there is not any compostable cutlery production from oil palm frond available, and therefore he designed most of the machinery and fabricated by himself since then. The founder has been developing Grenohware and managed to produce the prototypes of compostable chopsticks, cutlery, straw, coffee stirrer and food packagings like plates and bowls early of 2018.

Together with the founder, the whole team hopes to contribute our effort to combat plastic pollution that endangers our environment and marine life by replacing the plastic cutlery and food packaging. Moreover, by utilizing the oil palm frond to make high-value eco-friendly products, will also help to improve the income for the oil palm smallholders.
