New Embassy of Belgium and two Residences for diplomatic staff in Mexico City - Proposal 2024-
Materiality
Through the use and reuse of local materials, we aim to tell a story. We believe that the textures, tones, purity,
and imperfections of materials bring this narrative to life. The building will be constructed with concrete and
recycled brick walls, supported by a conventional structure of reinforced concrete beams and columns.
Most of the building’s surface will be plastered to achieve a uniform appearance.
The goal is for the building to endure in the memory of those who occupy it and for the embassy to be perceived as a unique space within the city. Furthermore, it aspires to become a memorable place for those who,
day by day, find the embassy as their point of gathering, work, exchange, and experience.
