The Lithuanian company Vakarų Metalgama, part of the Elme Metall Group, has received an award from the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority in recognition of its investments in sustainable production. Traditionally, the Port Authority presents these awards to companies that deliver strong results in stevedoring, shipbuilding, ship repair, shipping, and related fields.

In 2025, Vakarų Metalgama carried out a major upgrade of its production facilities, commissioning a new surface preparation and priming line and installing modern equipment for cutting rolled steel. The €3.5 million investment has improved production efficiency, expanded the company’s technological capabilities, and reduced CO₂ emissions by 30%. The new equipment enables the cutting of steel plates up to 300 mm thick, extending the scope of work the company can undertake and reinforcing its competitive position.

The project was completed without interrupting ongoing production and represents another step towards sustainable development and improved operational efficiency for Vakarų Metalgama and the Elme Metall Group.
