6.1 is out, with an even stronger workflow.

The biggest change for DJI LiDAR operators:

You can now configure Zenmuse L1, L2 and L3 directly in UgCS while planning the mission.

That includes key acquisition settings such as return mode, sampling rate, and scanning mode.

We also added:

•󠁏󠁏 ready-made LiDAR profiles for DJI, ROCK Robotic and selected YellowScan sensors
•󠁏󠁏 the ability to create and save your own LiDAR sensor profile with just a name + FOV
•󠁏󠁏 AGL Terrain Following for waypoint segments, so the route to and from the survey area can follow terrain too
•󠁏󠁏 a new Cloud Android workflow for ArduPilot and PX4 routes via QGroundControl
•󠁏󠁏 richer CSV import for more automated and scripted mission workflows

For survey teams, the point is simple:
more of the mission can now be prepared and reviewed in one place before going to the field.

Plan the route. Check the terrain. Configure the sensor. Fly.

Only 7 days remain to submit your project to the Global Drone Operations Awards 2026.

We are looking for advanced drone operations that demonstrate technical complexity, reliable data, strong field ex*****on, and measurable real-world impact.

Winners will receive professional recognition and an invitation to SPH Drone Camp in Budapest — two days of live drone demos, expert sessions, and networking with the drone surveying community.

Applications close September 11.

CNR researchers flew over 65 hectares of scrub-covered hillside in Greece, using UgCS Terrain Follow mode to hold a steady 70m above the actual ground as the terrain rose and fell beneath it.

That consistency kept the scan dense enough, about 2,000 points per square meter, to see through centuries of vegetation.

See the full Case Study:

CNR-ISPC flew a Riegl MiniVUX-3 over 65 ha of scrub at Kastrì-Pandosia, Greece, using UgCS terrain following at 70 m AGL to reach 2,000 points per m².

University of Turin (Università degli Studi di Torino) flew the same spray drone mission 45 times across a full vineyard season, changing only the spray rate each run. held flight height and heading steady enough that the setting was the only variable left. Turns out more spray didn't reach more canopy.

See how they did it & what happened:
