In the spotlight: 3DZ x Artec Spider II.

Artec Ambassador 3DZ demoed the Spider II scanning a dark, glossy helmet, with no matting spray and no markers. As you can see, the result is a full-color, textured 3D model, processed in Artec Studio.

From open pit to deep underground, Artec 3D scanners capture the survey data mining operations depend on.

Of all our scanners, Artec Jet — a mobile, SLAM-based LiDAR — leads. What sets it apart:

▪️ Autonomous mapping into restricted spaces and beyond line of sight
▪️ Works in GPS-denied areas
▪️ Handles zero light, dark rock faces, and reflective ores

Flown or lowered into hard-to-reach areas and scanning from a safe distance, it keeps teams out of harm's way.

Typical applications of Artec Jet include scanning:

▪️ Pit faces & walls — for slope stability analysis.
▪️ Stopes & headings — for convergence monitoring and overbreak/underbreak identification.
▪️ Shafts, ore passes & old workings — for void mapping and condition assessment.

Scans merge into a single dataset of above- and below-ground assets, ready to export as point clouds or 3D meshes.

Our webinar with Tucci Hot Rods is now on YouTube: https://ow.ly/BOEb50ZbjSH

Industrial designer Dominick Tucci explains how Artec Leo 3D scanning has changed the way he customizes vintage muscle cars, covering Ford collaboration projects, a 1941 Willys hood, a 1970 Mustang fender vent, and a 1941 Willys under dash.

Artec Studio webinar series continues. This time, the workflow goes one step further and takes you from Artec Studio into SolidWorks.

Our expert walks through every stage: capturing the physical object with Artec Spider II, processing the raw data into a clean, aligned polygon mesh, slicing the mesh to extract primitives (planes, cylinders) for precise positioning, and exact 2D cross-sections, then importing the data and parametrically rebuilding the model.

Catch this session on its own, or follow the whole series and work toward the Advanced Artec Studio Training Certificate.

Artec Jet units are arriving at our partners around the world, and the first unboxings are rolling in.

The team at Direct Dimensions, Inc. filmed theirs, walking through the full kit: the Jet itself, the handle for handheld scanning, the battery and belt clip, cables and adapters, plus a GoPro for adding true-color data to the point cloud. They also set up the backpack with its quick-release mount and a spot for the optional RTK accessories.

Artec 3D took part in the panel "Crossroads for Collaboration in Tech between Southeast Asia and Luxembourg" at Nexus Luxembourg 2026, represented by our Co-founder and CXO Sergey Sukhovey.

Having been present in Southeast Asia for more than 16 years, we have witnessed the region's technological growth firsthand. Today it remains one of the most dynamic innovation hubs in the world, with strong potential for further cooperation with Europe, and with Luxembourg in particular.

Thank you to Luxinnovation for moderating, and to our fellow panelists from Azyro, ING Luxembourg, and Techsauce for the discussion on AI, innovation, scaling, and cross-regional cooperation.

Almeida Garrett in Lisbon: a roughly 3 m (about 9.8 ft) marble statue of the 19th-century writer and playwright, now captured in 3D by our team.

It came together from 300 photos on a compact gimbal camera, no 3D scanner involved. We shot under overcast skies for soft, even light, which keeps highlights off the marble and holds back the hard shadows that disrupt reconstruction. The camera ran in manual mode with a fixed ISO for consistent exposure across the set, and autofocus to keep every frame sharp.

From there it was Artec Studio: AI Photogrammetry with masks to separate the statue from its background. The result is a textured 1 million polygon model of the monument.

"The challenge is speed,"

said Mr. Hardi Praptomo of PT Brilliant Jaya Inti, an Indonesian powerhouse in interior and exterior aftermarket parts. Inspecting a tooling mold the old way meant using a CMM machine to disassemble it, measure a few points, then reassemble it.

To accelerate this, the company turned to Artec's trusted reseller AppliCAD Indonesia, who demoed Artec Leo, an all-in-one 3D scanner with a built-in battery, display, and processor. Operating without scanning targets cut time on preparation and cleanup, and because Leo is completely wireless, engineers can measure the underside of a wheel arch or a front grille on the spot, applicable to any mold size.

Here are some highlights from our recent webinar with Saucony.

Bringing back the Matrix with no 2D or 3D data. Turning scanned shoes into slot cars for ComplexCon. Making a giant sneaker from a single scan. All with Artec Spider II.

Capturing an active workshop, where dust and moving equipment can impact data acquisition, is no mean feat. But the ultra-versatile Artec Jet made quick work of it! Switching from handheld to drone-based capture allowed for comprehensive coverage – of both the ground-level and elevated structures. Everything from machinery to piping is featured in the final result.
