The Institute of Engineering Technology (IET), Katunayake, proudly participated in the International Engineering Research Symposium 2025, organized by NREDC, held at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo, on 30th October 2025.

For the first time in IET history, students from the Electrical Engineering Department successfully presented and published four research papers at an international symposium — a remarkable milestone demonstrating the growing strength of research and innovation at IET.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the student authors for their outstanding research presentations and innovative contributions. Your hard work, creativity, and commitment have brought great pride to the institute.

"Electrical Network Engineering Students (2022 Batch) of the Institute of Engineering Technology, Katunayake visited a key technical facility of SriLankan Airlines on 22nd October 2025, gaining valuable insights into enterprise-level IT infrastructure and operations."

The Field visit provided valuable exposure to practical applications of electrical network systems in the aviation industry, enhancing the students’ technical knowledge and professional development.

Mr. S.D. Marasinghe serves as a Lecturer (Grade II) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET). His academic and research pursuits are focused on practical and innovative solutions within electronic communication systems and test instrumentation.

He recently showcased his research at the 18th International Research Conference of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), held on September 30th and October 1st, 2025. Mr. Marasinghe presented his paper titled "Designing of Portable Multifunctional Communication Tester," a project dedicated to developing a versatile and cost-effective tool for diagnosing and maintaining a wide array of communication devices. This work underscores his commitment to advancing sustainable and interdisciplinary engineering technologies.

Through his role as a lecturer and researcher, Mr. Marasinghe's contributions exemplify the IET's mission to foster innovation and academic excellence, effectively bridging theoretical knowledge with impactful, real-world applications.
