Drawing from her extensive experience in architecture, sustainability, and placemaking, Cathy shared valuable insights on how southeast asian architecture influences are making their mark on the global stage. She also explored role of design as an adaptable framework, one that can grow, transform and respond to the changing needs of people and communities over time.

Our ASDA 2026 APAC Grand Prize Winner and Finalists had the opportunity to experience firsthand how Filipino architects and designers across generations have responded to local climate, culture, and context through a specially curated Architectural Tour by Kanto in Manila.

The tour offered rare insights from the minds behind some of the country's most significant architectural projects. Participants were guided through the renovation of the National Museum of Natural History, the restoration of the Philippine National Convention Center, and the innovative design of the NEX Tower by the architects who brought these spaces to life.

it was an inspiring opportunity to learn how thoughtful design can preserve heritage, respond to environmental conditions, and shape the future of the built environment.

The APAC Grand Prize Winner and Finalists of the American Standard Design Award 2026 immersed themselves in the rich culture and heritage of the Philippines through a guided tour of Intramuros. The group explored some of Manila’s most iconic historical landmarks, including Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church, and Casa Manila.

The experience continued with a welcome dinner at Barbara’s Heritage Restaurant, where guests enjoyed traditional Filipino cuisine accompanied by a vibrant cultural performance, offering a warm introduction to the country’s rich traditions and hospitality.
