Construction projects involve hundreds of processes and countless variables moving simultaneously. Even minor schedule changes can disrupt the entire workflow, making construction scheduling critical to project success.

Coordinating those unseen flows and bringing projects to completion are the role of construction scheduling managers.

“Construction scheduling is about coordinating workflows in the right order to keep projects on track. It involves designing workflows so that each process connects without conflict, while balancing cost, quality, and safety.”
— Kim Jae Deok, Cloud City (Knowledge Industry Center) Site in Gwanggyo

“Construction scheduling is about managing time and risk. Client requirements, design changes, site conditions, and procurement schedules all move on different timelines, so scheduling managers must anticipate risks and coordinate the overall flow accordingly.”
— Sung Yoon Taek, Building Works Schedule Management Team

“Construction scheduling is ultimately about alignment. It’s about understanding each team’s perspective and helping everyone move toward one shared goal.”
— Park Seung Soon, Building Works Schedule Management Team

Dobre rano!
A greeting from our site in the Czech Republic!

Hyundai Engineering Czech s.r.o. provides facility, cleaning, and landscape management services at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC), creating a workplace where people and nature coexist.

Team-building events and Christmas parties are an important part of the workplace culture here. Birthdays are especially memorable, as the person celebrating prepares cakes and food to share with colleagues. Handshakes and hugs make these moments even more meaningful and help bring everyone closer together.

The site is also surrounded by wide green spaces and a well-preserved natural environment, where rabbits, deer, squirrels, and even foxes can often be spotted. The team also supports biodiversity by maintaining wetlands and creating a workplace that coexists with nature.

What’s a special culture or tradition at your workplace?

🌍 Overcoming the challenges of a doubly landlocked country

The Uzbekistan Kandym Group of Fields Procurement and Construction Project (UKAN) was more than just a gas processing facility project. It also involved the development of related infrastructure, including roads, railways, power grids, and communication networks, making it the largest project awarded to Hyundai Engineering as of 2014.

Uzbekistan is one of only two doubly landlocked countries in the world, meaning all maritime transport must pass through multiple neighboring countries. Delivering major equipment to the site required complex inland logistics and an extensive long-distance transportation system.

Despite these logistical challenges, Hyundai Engineering carried out the entire process from Re-FEED incorporating the Cost Optimization Proposal to EPC ex*****on, ultimately completing the project five months ahead of schedule.

Extreme cold or extreme heat—where would you rather work?

Antarctica, the Frozen End of the Earth❄️
At the Antarctic research station, strong winds and freezing temperatures made concrete pouring and additional material supply nearly impossible. Every bolt had to be prepared in advance, and all construction processes had to be precisely planned and managed under highly constrained conditions.

Iraq, a Land of Scorching Heat☀️
At the Rumaila gas turbine power plant in Basra—known for its intense heat—construction had to be carried out primarily at night. On-site teams adjusted their schedules throughout the summer, working from night until early morning to keep the project moving forward.

Two Hyundai Engineering projects completed under completely different conditions.
Extreme cold in Antarctica. Extreme heat in Iraq.

If you could choose just one place to work, where would you go?

🔆 Does solar power work on cloudy days?

Solar energy converts sunlight into electricity, and even when the sky is overcast, it can generate power through diffused light. As a renewable energy source that requires no fuel, solar power is rapidly expanding across industries and into our daily lives.

Through the Saemangeum Solar Power Project, Hyundai Engineering has demonstrated its capabilities across the full value chain — from development to EPC and O&M — while expanding its global energy business in markets like the United States and Serbia.

⚙️ A Refinery Project Delivering Euro 5 Standards

Hyundai Engineering successfully executed the Melaka Euro 5 Diesel Refinery Project in Malaysia, constructing new facilities to reduce sulfur content in diesel and produce cleaner diesel that meets Euro 5 standards.

The Euro emission standards, established by the European Union, classify fuels from Euro 1 to Euro 6 based on pollutant levels in diesel, with higher grades indicating stricter environmental requirements.

Despite the challenges of a constrained site and tight schedule at a decades-old refinery, Hyundai Engineering adopted a fast-track approach—integrating engineering, procurement, and construction—to secure both schedule and quality.

Plant design is more than just drawing diagrams. It is a critical process that connects countless facilities and components so they operate seamlessly as a cohesive whole.

Even a small change can impact the entire system. How do Hyundai Engineering’s design and engineering experts ensure their designs work effectively in real-world conditions?

“Rather than focusing on what appears on the surface, it is important to identify the root of the problem. And instead of working alone, we actively seek support from the colleagues best suited to solve it, working together toward the solution.”
— Kim Hyun Jin, Plant Engineering Management

“A single change in equipment can create a domino effect across the entire system and space. That’s why we always examine how any change will affect the overall flow first.”
— Ha Kwun Ho, Plant Stationary Machinery Equipment Engineering

“Piping design is highly complex, and interference issues occur frequently. In such cases, we establish clear priorities to guide coordination. Especially when collaborating with civil and structural teams, trust and strong working relationships are just as important as technical data.”
— Nam Jong Deok, Plant Piping Engineering

Although they play different roles, they share the same approach—understanding problems at their core, analyzing impact within the entire system, and finding solutions through collaboration.

Design is not just about drawings. It is a process shaped by countless variables and teamwork.
