*Sleep disorders and dental health

Sleep disorders such as poor sleep or excessive sleep have a higher risk of dental caries and periodontal diseases compared to normal sleepers.

7 hours is usually considered the right amount of sleep. The prevalence of dental caries was the lowest when you slept properly. On the other hand, 31.8% of dental caries were found to be harmful when you slept less than 5 hours of sleep, which was less than the right amount of sleep. It was also found to be harmful to dental health at 31.9% when you slept more than 9 hours, which exceeded the appropriate amount of sleep.

Dental caries and periodontal diseases are closely related to the secretion of saliva. Smooth saliva secretion inhibits the reproduction of bacteria in your mouth. However, if you have daytime sleepiness due to your wrong sleeping habit, the amount of saliva secreted decreases.

The autonomic nervous system is also affected by stress from lack of sleep, causing dry mouth. In addition, lack of sleep can lead to excessive consumption of food. Stress is also the cause of dental caries and periodontal diseases.

보통 7시간을 적정 수면시간으로 봅니다. 적정 수면시간을 지켜 잤을 경우에는 치아우식증 유병률이 가장 낮았습니다 반면 적정 수면시간에 못 미치는 5시간 이하의 수면을 취했을 때 치아우식증의 유병률은 31.8%였습니다. 적정 수면시간을 뛰어 넘는 9시간 이상 수면을 취했을 때 역시 31.9%로 치아건강에 해로운 것으로 나타났습니다.

치아우식증과 치주질환은 침의 분비와 밀접한 연관성이 있습니다. 침이 원활하게 분비되면 구강 내 세균의 번식을 억제합니다. 하지만 잘못된 수면 습관에 의해 주간졸림증이 있을 경우에는 침의 분비량이 감소합니다.

수면 부족으로 스트레스를 받으면 자율신경계에도 영향을 주어 구강 건조가 유발됩니다. 이밖에 수면 부족은 음식물을 과잉 섭취할 여지가 있습니다. 역시 스트레스 때문인데 이것이 치아우식증 및 치주질환의 원인이 되기도 합니다.

*Precautions after wisdom tooth extraction

After extraction, the gums swell and bleed. Changing the gauze every two hours and applying a cold compress can reduce bleeding. In case of pain, care should be taken if it lasts for more than three days. Usually, after two days, the pain decreases, and if the extraction area continues to hurt, you should suspect an infection.

If food gets stuck in the extraction area, it will decompose and will not heal normally. Therefore, caution should be taken against inflammation. If it is severe, you should be hospitalized or receive additional care to remove pus.

The most important thing to be careful about after extraction is abstaining from drinking and quitting smoking. Smoking and drinking are advised because they prevent the area from healing and recovering. In addition, it is recommended to avoid intense exercise and sauna for the time being and get enough rest.

*사랑니 발치 후 주의사항

발치 후에는 잇몸이 부어오르고 출혈이 생기는데요. 2시간마다 거즈를 갈고 냉찜질을 하면 출혈을 줄일 수 있습니다. 통증의 경우 3일 이상 지속될 경우 주의해야 합니다. 보통 이틀 정도가 지나면 통증이 줄고, 계속 발치 부위가 아프다면 감염 등을 의심해봐야 합니다.

발치 부위에 음식물이 끼이면 부패하면서 정상적인 치유가 되지 않습니다. 이에 염증에 대해서도 주의가 필요합니다. 심하면 입원 치료를 받거나 고름을 없애는 관리를 추가로 받아야 합니다.

발치 후 가장 주의가 필요한 것은 금주와 금연입니다. 흡연과 음주는 발치 부위가 아물고 회복되는 것을 방해하기 때문에 금하는 것이 좋습니다. 더불어 격한 운동과 사우나도 당분간 피하고 충분한 휴식을 취하는 것이 좋습니다.

*Types of dental caries

Mutans bacillus is a typical causative agent of tooth decay. It is a bacteria that multiplies by ingesting sugar in your mouth. It takes sugar and breaks it down into lactic acid. There are bacteria that emit alkaline substances in the original mouth, so it maintains a balance. However, when sugar intake increases, the balance in your mouth collapses, resulting in tooth decay.

Second, there is a Proximal caries, which occurs on the surface where the teeth come into contact. It occurs as often as the chew side, but it is not easy to detect because it is located. Also, it is easy to move on because the pain is not severe. However, the progression is often much worse than the chew side, and it often destroys the teeth themselves because it does not stop easily.

Third, there is a cavity that occurs in the area where the cheeks and teeth come into contact. It is noticeable, but it is said to be careful because it occurs in the widest area and the teeth can be damaged quickly as it is the side.

The last part is a cavity in the area where the gums and teeth come into contact. It is called a dental cavity, and if a gum problem occurs or becomes weak, it can occur with inflammation.

*치아우식증의 종류

충치의 대표적인 원인균은 뮤탄스균입니다. 구강 내에 당분을 섭취해 증식하는 균인데요. 당분을 섭취해 젖산으로 분해한답니다. 원래 구강 내에는 알칼리성 물질을 내뿜는 균도 있어서 균형을 유지한다고 해요. 그러나 당분섭취가 많아지면 구강내의 균형이 무너져 충치가 발생합니다.

두번째로 사이 충치, 치아 사이가 맞닿는 면에 발생하는 충치가 있는데요. 씹는 면만큼 흔히 발생하지만 위치가 위치인지라 발견이 쉽지 않아요. 또한 통증이 심하지 않다보니 쉽게 넘어가곤 합니다. 그러나 진행양상이 씹는 면보다 훨씬 심한 경우가 많고 쉽게 멈추지 않아 치아 자체를 파괴하는 경우가 종종 있습니다.

세번째로 볼과 치아가 맞닿는 부위에 발생하는 충치가 있어요. 눈에 띄는 편이지만 가장 넓은 부위에 발생하고 옆면인만큼 금방 치아가 손상될 수 있으니 주의해야 한다고 합니다.

마지막 부위는 잇몸과 치아가 맞닿는 부위에 발생하는 충치인데요. 치경부 충치라고 부르며 잇몸문제가 생기거나 약해질 경우 염증과 함께 발생할 수 있어요.
