Small Beginnings...

Living in Cambodia is wonderful but if you’ve lived here long enough you will know that power outages are common and at times unpredictable even though EDC is very good at giving plenty of notice for scheduled outages. My wife and I both work online and we needed a good, dependable backup power source that’s preferably rechargeable, light weight and easy to store and importantly, quiet when it’s in use. After searching unsuccessfully in the local stores, we found this was not something available to us here and our next option was ordering online which presented another small problem -- some vendors do not ship to Cambodia, and the ones that do add the shipping cost onto the price of the item we wanted which made the price a little higher than the amount we wanted to pay. We’ve lost hundreds of dollars due to power outages so when we found Buffalo portable generators, which are solar compatible we were very pleased.

We now feel so much more confident that even during a sustained power outage we can have the fans running, our mini bar fridge on and we can most importantly work uninterrupted which means we are no longer losing money each time the power goes out. We have our Buffalo portable generator fully charged and on standby 24/7 and even if for some reason the power is off for longer than 24 hours, we still have a reliable power source as our generator can be recharged by solar, car lighter or on the mains.
