From BIM model to reality:

66 apartments, a REWE Group store, restaurants and shops: with the “Zollhof”, a formative project is being implemented in Wentorf, Hamburg.

In August 2018, we were contracted with the structural planning and design phases 01 to 06 according to German HOAI for the 10,060 m² project.

Now the construction is being finalized. – Always a proud moment to see our structural designs becoming reality.

Not just one piece of news, but two: we recently opened our new office location in Frankfurt, Germany. Now we warmly welcome Mehmet Aslan as new office manager.

The new office in “Bockenheimer Anlage 46” is our fifth location worldwide to date.

“Due to the extraordinary building culture and our previous cooperation with local partners, we see Frankfurt as another important location for our steadily growing team.

Mehmet Aslan completed his studies at TU Darmstadt. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in structural engineering with a focus on concrete construction and geotechnical engineering.

Already before joining gbc engineers, he was involved in major national and international projects. Among others the well-known projects ONEfrankfurt and FOURfrankfurt.

HKW Leipzig Süd - Application of prefabrication into one of the world cleanest thermal power plants.

gbc engineers is proud to participate in the planning of the new thermal power plant in Leipzig Süd, Germany (HKW Leipzig Süd). The construction of this new power plant is expected to secure the energy supply for the region and has an important contribution to achieve the area’s sustainable development targets. The plant is scheduled to be on the grid by the end of 2022 and will be one of the world cleanest gas power plants.

This project includes a power station building (55.8m x 40.3m), a gas system building (31.8m x 24.0m), a pump hall (42.5m x 24.5m).

For this project, gbc engineers has provided the following engineering design services:
- Structural planning LP4-5 for precast elements
- Preparation of precast element layout plans
- Preparation of Precast shop drawings

The detailed model includes structure, build-in parts, mounting parts and rebar for each element. This project consists of many prefabricated elements, and some of them are in large size and weight. Besides, there are many connections for many different tasks in a prefabricated structure. There is no chance of fixing any mistakes, hence, the model and workshop drawings are required to be made with absolute precision. During the project, a vast amount of relevant information must be checked to create a complete element.
