The WEEE Centre

The WEEE Centre WEEE Centre was launched in 2012, with a view to providing e-Waste management services in Africa

With e-waste becoming a reality in Kenya and such recycling activities on the rise, a need has been felt in all quarters for an efficient and environmentally sound management of e-waste in the country. Across the world, mainly in Europe, there have been different models for the management of such waste, which have been successful. WEEE Centre is a limited liability company cognisant of the dichoto

mous fact that developing nations such as Kenya lack the resources to rapidly bridge the digital divide with brand new equipment and yet lack the capacity to safely dispose of the large numbers of pre-owned computers they must acquire to move forward, and which will inevitably “die” sooner than brand new machines

Our team at the WEEE Centre engaged students in meaningful conversations around e-waste management—sharing why responsible disposal and recycling matters for our planet.
And it wasn’t just talk… students got hands-on experience by dismantling computers, learning firsthand how e-waste is handled and the value hidden inside 💻🔧
Empowering the next generation to take action for a cleaner, greener future!

We were honored to host a visit from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to discuss a critical topic shaping the future of e-mobility ⚡

The focus: safe handling of EV batteries at end-of-life — a growing challenge as adoption of electric mobility increases.

UNEP’s E-Mobility team is committed to ensuring these batteries are managed responsibly, safely, and sustainably to protect both people and the environment.

At WEEE Centre, we remain at the forefront of advancing sustainable e-waste solutions. ♻️
