Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) Commends Progress and Sustainability Considerations at the Raila Odinga Mausoleum Project, Siaya County, Kenya. Led by its President, Eng. Gabriel W. Jabongo, today conducted an inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the Raila Odinga Mausoleum at Kango Ka Jaramogi, the home area associated with the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, one of Kenya's foremost independence and democracy icons. The visit formed part of ACEK's commitment to promoting excellence in engineering, quality infrastructure delivery, preservation of cultural heritage, and sustainable development in national projects of historical significance.
Speaking during the inspection, the President of ACEK Eng. Gabriel Jabongo was welcomed by the Resident Architect Leon Omwega and acknowledged the steady progress achieved on the project and commended the project team for their dedication to delivering a landmark facility that will celebrate the legacy of one of Kenya's most distinguished public figures while providing an important cultural and educational resource for future generations.
"The Raila Odinga Mausoleum represents more than a physical structure; it is a symbol of national heritage, democratic values, and the enduring contribution of the Odinga family to Kenya's social, political, and economic development. We are encouraged by the progress made and the professionalism demonstrated by the consultants, contractors, and all stakeholders involved," said the ACEK President.
ACEK emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of engineering practice, construction quality, safety, and environmental stewardship throughout the implementation of the project.
Particular attention was drawn to sustainability considerations that should guide the project's completion and future operation. These include the use of durable and locally sourced construction materials where appropriate, water conservation measures, energy-efficient systems, landscape restoration, effective stormwater management, and preservation of the site's cultural and ecological character.
