Employee engagement is a multifaceted concept that requires a strategic and ongoing effort from leadership.

By focusing on the 5 C's of employee engagement you can:
Create an environment where employees feel valued, motivated and engaged. This not only enhances individual performance but also drives organizational success and is essential for building a thriving, dynamic and resilient workforce.

Align employees’ efforts with business strategy, as a proactive work environment promotes innovation, outstanding customer service and strategic solutions to problems.

In addition, creating a great place to work also increases morale, productivity and reduces employee turnover.

Weld-Con embraces the 5 C’s of employee engagement:
• Communication: Effective communication ensures clarity, alignment, and transparency within the organization. It fosters trust, reduces misunderstandings, and keeps employees informed about goals, expectations, and changes.

• Connection: Building strong interpersonal relationships and connections among employees and between employees and leadership promotes a sense of belonging and camaraderie. It creates a supportive environment where employees feel valued, respected, and motivated to collaborate towards common goals.

• Culture: A positive organizational culture reinforces values, norms, and behaviours that align with the company's mission and vision. A culture that emphasizes fairness, inclusivity, and appreciation cultivates engagement by fostering a sense of identity, purpose, and pride among employees.

• Contribution: Recognizing, acknowledging employees' contributions and achievements reinforces their sense of worth and motivates them to go above and beyond in their roles. Providing opportunities for meaningful involvement and autonomy empowers employees to make valuable contributions to the organization's success.

• Career Development: Investing in employees' professional growth and development demonstrates a commitment to their long-term success and fulfillment. Offering training, mentoring, and advancement opportunities not only enhances employees' skills and competencies but also fosters loyalty and retention.

Procurement is a strategic driver that shapes project quality, sustainability, and long-term value.

Supplier engagement is central to this approach. By keeping communication open, aligning on shared goals, and encouraging innovation, partnerships can grow into something far more valuable than simple transactions.

Key principles to uphold:
• Transparency and trust at every stage
• Collaboration to drive efficiency and new ideas
• Commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing
• Support for supplier diversity and growth

When suppliers succeed, clients and communities succeed as well.

Anyone who’s been in project bidding knows the temptation: go in low, win the job, and figure it out later. The problem? Underestimating always catches up with you.

It usually shows up as:
• Budgets stretched to breaking point
• Timelines slipping further and further
• Frustrated clients who start losing trust

Through experience we have learned to:

• Talk to suppliers and vendors early, don’t guess prices.
• Compare with real numbers from past projects.
• Always build in a buffer for risks and surprises.

At the end of the day, a realistic estimate doesn’t just protect margins it protects your reputation and relationships. Clients remember the teams that deliver, not the ones that over-promise and under-deliver.

Weld-con has now completed the installation of three new Toshiba steam turbines as part of the rehabilitation works at the Olkaria 1 Geothermal Power Station in Hell’s Gate.

This upgrade is a major step towards Kenya joining the “Geothermal Gigawatt Club” and becoming the first country in Africa to achieve this milestone. Once operational, the turbines will convert high-pressure steam into clean, renewable electricity, significantly boosting the nation’s geothermal capacity.

We are proud to see our team’s expertise in welding, alignment, and precision assembly delivering results that will power Kenya’s future.

On 24th July 2025, our Miritini Workshop team conducted a comprehensive fire and rescue drill, simulating a significant fire incident involving two casualties.

With the participation of 112 individuals, including our internal teams and critical external agencies. The Mombasa County Fire Brigade, Bomu Hospital, the National Disaster Management Unit, Kenya Police Service, and Texas Alarms the exercise aimed to:

· Test our emergency response plan and overall preparedness
· Assess coordination between internal teams and external responders
· Strengthen familiarity with evacuation, search, and assembly procedures

The drill showcased quick, coordinated action from immediate evacuation and casualty management to efficient fire suppression.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all participating agencies for their invaluable support and to our Weld-con employees for their active engagement and professionalism throughout the exercise.

This drill not only tested our systems but also reinforced our preparedness to handle emergencies effectively.

Together, we remain dedicated to ensuring the safety of our people, facilities, and operations.

When operating in an industry that demands the employment of people with specific technical qualifications, particularly those with numeracy / quantitative requirements, one can create an environment where the ‘softer skills’ can be lacking, underdeveloped or not particularly valued. Poor communication can lead to misunderstandings, a sense of isolation, and even a reluctance to ask questions, breaking down a vital human need for connection, creating silos, discouraging teamwork and minimising potential. Weld-Con has identified this risk and takes mindful steps to encourage focus on leadership, at all levels, over all disciplines and across departmental lines.

Weld-Con employs people whose roles straddle departments, require the sharing of information, working in tandem and include the provision of efficient support and communication across all departments.

It is easy to be good as individuals but as any team coach worth their salt will confirm, it takes work to be even better together.

Sales & Proposals: Where Projects Are Won Before They're Built

Behind every successful project is a well-crafted proposal backed by strategy, teamwork, and relentless attention to detail.
Winning a project isn’t just about offering the lowest price. It’s about understanding the client’s needs, aligning solutions with their goals, and presenting a clear path to success.

Here’s how we consistently win:
✅ Deep engagement with client requirements – not just what’s written, but what’s between the lines
✅ Strategic value engineering – delivering smarter, cost-effective solutions without compromising quality
✅ Fast, flexible communication – building trust from the first interaction
✅ Transparent pricing & clear incoterms – no surprises, just confidence
✅ A proposal that tells a story – technical clarity meets compelling narrative

Sales is not just a numbers game—it’s a value game. And proposals are our battlefield.
Let’s keep pushing boundaries, winning smart, and delivering results that matter.
